Unless it's brand new you'd struggle to get that amount.

Good condition maybe £150 - £180.

I'm afraid not. But if you are selling it then present it nicely - i.e clean and service the thing before posting pictures. People are much willing to buy something if it looks good and appears well kept.

Hi all

I am thinking of buying one of these RC cars today but it is second hand / in good condition. How difficult will it be for me to setup the engine etc to make sure it runs to it's optimum.

Is there an 'Idiots Guide' to engine setup / tuning available?

Thanks

If it's in running condition when you get it then it shouldn't be too difficult. I got my TS-4 2'nd hand, and it was very easy - didn't even really know what i was doing back then either...

If you really don't know have a clue (any idea what LSN, HSN are?) then it's probably best to get a friend who knows what he/she is doing to show you. Or take it to a model shop and have them tune it for you. It is quite easy to destroy these engines if they're not run properly.

There are a lot of guides availible for tuning these engines, just don't really know where to look. Maybe a quick google would help. Even a search on this site would turn up a fair bit of information. Or just post questions on this forum...

HI

Thanks for that matey, i bought the car for £100 off Ebay and picked it up yesterday, the guy fleeced me to a certain degree as it was described as being in full working order and hardly used, this was not the case obviously. I got the car home after he enthused about how much of a bargain i got to find that the front suspension mounting had been smashed to pieces and then glued back together, the glue had dripped onto the front right wishbone and locked it so the right suspension didnt work at all (fixed with a bit of elbow grease to free it). This had thrown the front end off balance and therefore thr tyres were unevenly worn.

I missed all of this when picking it up, at the end of the day the guy's description on Ebay was not accurate, i won it via auction and seeing as im a gentleman i paid for it etc. Ebay is....what Ebay is....an auction...bought as seen in pictures etc.

I mailed him and explained my frustrations, in a polite way, and explained that it would cost me approx £30 to replace the broken / work parts and explained that i felt misled, he offered to pay 50% of the costs so i guess thats fair.

What i could really do with is an instruction manual for the TS4N as it badly needs a strip down and service, i cant see any grease anywhere so all the jionts etc are dry. Does anyone have a set of instructions they can scan and .PDF for me ?

Thanks

Trebz

I don't have a scanner but i managed to find this - http://61.221.10.43/english/product.htm

That should have exploded diagrams of everything you need to take the car apart. After you've stripped it down a few times you woun't even need to look at the instructions anyway

As a general rule - you don't want any grease on exposed parts, because it'll just turn into a grinding paste. There is a type of grease you can use which dries and still lubricates - that would probably work fine.

You're probably going to do this anyway, but if not then do strip it all the way down to the chassis. Clean all the composite parts in the sink (fairy liquid and a nail brush works wonders) and basically check everything over. Make sure all the bulkheads are in good condition (a hard inpact can damage them and it's not always obvious), and that the hinge pins are not bent. Also a good idea to replace ALL the self tapping screws on the underside of the chassis with M3 machine screws, as they'll bite better and wont loosen up.

I think that about covers it any questions ask away.

Hope you like your TS4. Heres mine

Snowbl!nd

Many many thanks for the reply, that was absolutely cock on! I am a member of quite a few forums for other subjects / hobbies and i always find that one person over all others will go the extra mile to help others. You seem to be the one here matey.

I am taking the TS4N out today for a little run around the local car parks, hopefully i wont smash it up on the first go hehe. I tinkered around with it yesterday and got the steering straigtened, toe in set up etc as the guy i bought it from had left it all in a right mess.

One question left at this stage my friend, can you point me in the direction of a good RC car shop in the South Yorkshire area, im in Doncaster myself and work in Sheffield.

Again, many many thanks for taking the time out for me. I may even get some pictures this morning to post.

Take care

Trebz

No problem buddy, it's nice to be able to help.

I had a quick search and found this - http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/counties/shops/yorks.php Once you know what you're looking at it's understandable.
There seem to be two model shops in Doncaster - Evans Model Centre and TAG's Massive models. Their telephone numbers are listed, so if you're looking for parts for the car you can always find out if they stock them. There are even a few listed in Sheffield.

Personally i've given up on trying to get spare parts (for my TT car & TT truck) from local model shops. The only shop which stocked them changed hands and just went downhill, so i took my money elsewhere.

This is where i get 90% of my parts from now - http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFun...cPage=home.php I order online and have it delivered, but if it's not too far from you maybe you could call in and save yourself the delivery charge (zero when you spend over £50 anyway). The prices are just about unbeatable. Only yesterday i spent £60 on aluminium bulkheads for my TS-4

http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFun...&CategoryID=80
http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFun...63#SeeProducts

Hope that helps. I'll post some more pictures of my car when i get my new goodies installed.

Well it's getting there. Titanium turnbuckles and pivot balls, graphite front and rear shock towers and CF radio plate.
Also full set of CVD's to replace the dogbones. Still waiting for the servo mounts for the CF radio plate, and most of
the carbide roll pins.

Also need to do a bit of modding to get the front roll pins to fit - there isn't enough clearance to get the e-clip on the
shaft as the graphite shock tower is thicker than the stock plastic part. Engine was completely stripped (even stripped
the carb) and re-sealed. Seems the front bearing is leaking oil, so may need a replacement for that. Might try to pick
up a better steering servo now the saver is back on.

This is how it looks now...

For the bodies, www.hpiracing.com enter european site, click accessories, bodies, then browse...these bodies are available at hobby shops all over the world, I;m sure you won't have to order on line (if I remember correctly, there is a ford escort WRC edition (close to cosworth as you'll find)).

I have the ultimate...but it's not for drifting. The new Xray NT1 competition car. You can find pics of it in this forum a bit further down the first page. Funny thing is, until recently I also had a ts4n, I hesitate to say it in this thread, cos I'll probably have to duck some tomatoes, but I actually threw it in the bin about a month ago, after harvesting the bearings, belts, etc. In the on-road stakes, I also had an R40 which I was racing sometimes, but it got sold when I got into buggies. At the moment I have...

Xray NT1 competition 1/10th nitro tourer
Xray NT18 micro nitro tourer
Xray XB8 with RB S5 engine - competition 1/8th buggy
Xray MT18T micro electric truck (just for fun).
HPI Savage X (not xray cos they don't have a monster truck!)
HPI MT 4wd nitro Stadium truck (currently in 150 separate pieces and unlikely to ever be reassembled).

If you're wondering... 'wow, this guy likes xray!', try one, you'll never look back. At the moment I'm racing in three classes, it's totally crazy, I have to calm down, but I don't want to get rid of any of the cars.

My old ts4n came with a .12 that RIPPED. When did they change that? Hazza, if you're just flying about (not racing) do yourself a favour and get an OS 18TZ, it's cheap, LOADS of power, you might even need to upgrade the drivetrain to deal with it! If you don't want so much power, get a Nosram .18 they're really good as well, some people race them at my track in the 'sunday club' class. In answer to your other question, yes, depending where the exhaust is, you may need a different header, but of you upgrade the engine, you'll be looking for a new pipe as well, so get it all together. The car will take all small blocks (.12 to .18) if I remember correctly.

RB V12 would be a good choice of motor as well. RB motors last forever, hold a perfect tune. They're great I have 2 of them.

thanks foxy, im not sure when they changed it, got it a few years back, i raced a few competitons a while back but nothing serious. im already bidding on the RB V12 at £40 and seems top nick! do you have any idea where to get hop-up manifolds/ exhausts for thundertigers? i can only seem to find catalogued stuff when i look on the net. know any good pipes to match the RB, hopefully getting back into racing so need something able to keep up. also i have LOADS of spare parts/ leftovers from my ts pro remnake, anybody need them, got chassis suspension etc etc cheers

Get an RB pipe for an rb engine. which one? depends on your track. No pipe with engine? That's weird, ask the seller. Good luck with the racing.

Hi guys I recently bought a ts 4n mainly because it looked quite intresting vis a vie its price bracket but what i wish to ask is about hop ups i am aware of its factory hop ups , but does it take third party parts for further expansion perhaps better quality than TT. Also I am planning in fitting an SH engine in the near future. I was before equiped in model rc air racing and got into cars recently

any help would be apreciated
