Default I keep losing gears,,, need urgent help please

I just wasted my third set of gears in 2 weeks..[:@] I keep losing my 2nd gear over and over again.. Could be a gear ratio problem..??

I currently own an MTX-4 with an O.S. 12TZ (p)T3. I currently have 17t pinion 1st with a 59t spur 1st and 24t pinion 2nd over 59t 2nd.. I first lost a 3racing low friction set in my first outing. I then lost the second gear twice in one week and lost the third set today. I really need to know if I'm doing something wrong. [&:]

To be honest with you, I'm starting to question the car's durability and overall performance. I even had a front belt wear problem after the third outing. The front drive belt tore it's way through the pulley. I'll post a pic of my front pulley after the belt problem I had and you be the judges. This is really becoming frustrating. It's not just me out there on the track. You'll see all Mugen owners fiddling around with their cars trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with them. Please help me out guys cause I'd hate to give up the car after such a short period of time since buying it, especially that I'm a complete Mugen freak.. []

P.S.: My LHS knows nothing of proper RC cars, doesn't have any parts in stock, and keeps giving out the wrong advice.. [:'(]

its not the parts durabitily. the gears are made to do that when the mesh is not set right. just take some time to set your mesh right, not all the way pushed in, and not too far out

gears need to be the same count of teeth, example your 1st pinion is 17, 1st spur is 59, 17+59=76 your 2nd is 24 and 59 (not sure how you are running the same spur) but those dont add up to 76, see my point?

Sorry Apollo,, my mistake (typo[&:]) What I meant to write on my thread was 17t 1st pinion with a 59t 1st gear, over 24t 2nd pinion over a 52t 2nd gear (ex: 17+59= 76, 24+52=76). I hope to have clarified things a lot better so you can understand my problem a lot clearly now. Sorry once again for the confusion..

Another problem I have is reading the gear ratio chart that comes with the kit.. Is there an easy way you can explain it to me please?? I'm pretty sure It'll be very useful for such circumstances in the future plus it would be a benefit to know in general.

Thanks again..

those charts are really confusing, the best thing to do is make sure the gears add up correctly, other than that, set your mesh correctly, here is a picture of how gear mesh should be set at, but this is just for my rs4

Thanks for the pic Apollo.. I'll make sure that I set the mesh correctly next time and let you know about the result. How about I take a pic of my gears before and after aligning the mesh and posting them on this thread??

Stripping 2nd gear has come to be a common problem with the mtx4.Parts durabilty is not a problem with mugen, mugen makes some of the most durable parts in the world. You can find the answers to you questions here in the FAQ section on that sight.

As for stripping your front belt, what belt tension setting where you running?

Thanks for the info nitromustang. I'll check the website asap. As for the belt tensioner, I currently have it on standard (front) and middle hole on tensioner plate (middle belt), and medium (rear).
