Default Kyosho fantom

I just got one and it needs some doing up. From what i can see it needs a receiver tray and steering servo mounts but i cant find anyone that sells fantom parts so if anyone can help it will be greatly appreciated.

Kyosho Phantom is the Kyosho's 1/8 on road racer that afterwards (year 2004 I think...) was replaced by Evolva. I had one of these (2003 model) and it's a fantastic car...not as good as an Evolva but extremely close. As I remember the upper plate is almost the same with Evolva's check it out. If not then with small modificatons it may fit. Try it.

Sure!

This is the 2001 model so its a bit different. It needs some clean up and some new parts but apart from that its in very good condition. Ill post some more pics once i finished working on it.

Thanks for the evolva tip i might try it out. Anyone know were i can order parts for such a car?

Why don't you visit a kyosho shop and ask them to show all the evolva parts that fit your Phantom? There are not many differences between Phantom and Evolva you know...and Evolva is the world's best 1/8 race car!

Lol, i know a few serpent owners that would contradict you on that. I have a serpent and its very fast but i cant judge until i start up the fantom. There is a kyosho distributor near me so ill go ask there, problem is that if you order parts from there they take a long time to come.

I know they will but since I've competed against serpents on track and own an Evolva I'm mature enough to judge things right...

thats always the problem with older cars... just order two or three of each part you think might break during a race.

The JP is for a serpent that i have been working on for a long time and the OS is just to try out on the fantom. The current novarossi one might deliver a good powerband too so we'll see.

Keep the novarossi...if it's in good condition it will satisfy your need for speed!

OMG!!! I see a fantom again!!! Dude you just sent me 6 years back!!! Great car for its season. Try to find the front/rare axel rpm ratio so that you can cut your new tyres properly...it's been a long time and unfortunetely I can't remember the exact ratio

I started it up for a bit... its awesome! The clutch behaves a bit weirdly though, i dunno if thats how centax clutches are but it seems rotate in the opposite direction of engine turn but once given a bit of throttle it engages accelerates.

That's normal...they're designed to engage at a bit higher rpm range so that the boost is better.
