Kyosho Landmax 2 Brake set up
Hi all,
Just a quick word, bought a second hand Kyosho Landmax 2, was going to buy the GT but it just looks kind of wrong scale with the body fitted its just too fat, the question is my Landmax came with a 2 speed gearbox and it only has a single disc on the front shaft is there any reason I can not fit a twin set up ? I know its a solid centre drive so cant see it messing up the gear change, and 2 discs got to be better than one, can anybody help??
Thanks,
Biscuit

well, most kyoshos, especially older models have a single brake setup, and i think itll be fine, but will wear a bit faster, so just chcek the brake pads often.

My cousin runs a Landmax 1 and it has 2 discs, one on each side of the transmission gear. Maybe it fits on the landmax 2 too...

Yeah this had a twin disc set up on the centre diff, but now it has a 2 speed it only has one, just wondered why, as there are all the mounts to fit the second disc on the back of the housing the same as the front.

Ah now i see...simply the gear mount is the same size as the landmax1 and there's no space for a second one since it has 2 gears now. Also there's no more needed since now 2speed tranny has replaced the center differential. The reason Landmax 1 has dual brake is that it has a center differential so if there was only one, rear wheels would spin backwards and front wheels forward when at full brake. I had a car with a center differential and single brake...trust me it's not good at all.

Ok, I had all the bits with the old centre diff so got nothing to lose by fitting them, 2 discs got to be better than one ! its all on there plus changed the wheels for new 17mm hex fitting larger type, these are easy to get hold of and fit real nice in the Subaru shell, just had to make the adaptors.

wait, so what did you do to fix it? hey gynaikas, the rs4 doesnt have a center diff right? i hate the crappy plastic disc, and will probably change to metal or graphite soon.

No center diff on the RS4 and I love that! Get the graphite one (that's the one I use) and I guarantee you extreme breaking power and almost no wear-off! As for the Landmax2, dual brakes look just fine so problem solved right? You have exactly the same body as my uncle's Landmax1. I often maintan his car and I know perfectly how everything works. Here are some pics(the day that I replaced his crappy pipe with a Novarossi):

Yep did the same to mine, Pico Pipe for me ! the manifold is a bit near the wheel but think it will be ok, your manifold looks better, but saying that I am running bigger wheels, so still might be close. Picked up a brand new shell and decal set for it tonight, has yours got any option parts such as the dtff gears and the swing shafts for the front, got the foam bumper think this is a must.

RE: Kyosho Landmax 2 Brake set up
I have recently encountered a problem with my landmax 1 where the engine remains permanently engaged with the wheels. As such, i can only run the car while the throttle is on. Also, when the car is not running and I roll it forward you can feel it turning the engine over. The problem begun when the screw that the holds the metal gear at the end of the engine assembly fell out (the small metal gear turns the larger plastic spur gear and center diff.) My knowledge of the inner workings of the gearing attached to the engine is limited but I'm assuming that I've done some damage to something housed behind this metal gear. Any assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
