PRP XR8 Thoughts
Just wondering what are the general thoughts on the Power Racing Products XR8. I saw this thing on youtube and it looks awesome. I just want to know prior experiences. How it runs, stuff like that.

I heard their clutchs are quite hard to setup well but for the money their quite good cars. Providing you can find parts for them ofcourse.

Its a fairly old car but its still supported. Or it was last time I checked. Some people tried to race with it afew years ago but gave up the same year. It didn't do too badly. Are you thinking of getting the RTR or the kit version?

I have raptor from prp before, and their plastic are so brittle, same material they use in xr-8,
and as i know some people complain about their workmanship specially the plastic parts thats
easily to snap. If you don't want those kind of problem, go fpr the mugen or serpent or at least the hpi, I have serpent impact before and also have the mugen MRX-3 and MTX-4.

I was thinking of getting the kit version. I wasn't thinking of serious racing, just a little bashing on some smooth asphalt. I've found parts for it, but if its gonna be trouble finding parts later down the road, than forget it.

Yeah I guess I won't get it after giving it some thought. Oh well. I guess I just miss having my Tamiya 1/8 scale.[]

Similar but not exactly the same...don't ask for the differences...I don't know! But generally carbon fiber is simply a better compound...that's all.

RE: PRP XR8 Thoughts
After some thought, I've decided to hold off for a little while. I'm looking into another car anyways. I looked into the xr8 further and came to the conclusion that I've got too much on my hands with my current cars, the car that I'll be getting shortly, and the boat I'm saving for. Oh yeah the theres the option parts. Wow I guess you can say addicted

RE: PRP XR8 Thoughts
i just bought a used XR80, and its basically the exact same thing as the XR8 only it comes with the engine, doesnt have the graphite upper deck and towers and no receiver cover. thats it. and im personally really happy with it. i just play with it in parking lots and stuff, i dont race. The XR8 and XR80 are almost IDENTICAL to the Serpents. only difference is the cheaper parts. but personally i dont care. oh yeah and almost forgot, the xr80 uses 3 shoe clutch system, the XR8 might use the centax clutch like the serpents, im not sure. personaly i much prefer the Shoe system since i can get shoes anywhere and am much more familiar with it.
and as a side note, u can prolly get 50% of the parts from a Serpent to directly fit the XR80.

RE: PRP XR8 Thoughts
yeah the choise is more a matter of what u want. u cant compare a 1/10th with a 1/8th. at least not this kind of 1/8th. there are some 1/8ths like the inferno gt, but that is like a bigger 1/10th. its no faster. the xr80 is MUCH faster than my RS4 2 which ive had a 15FE, T-15 and then a .18CV-R. there is just so much grip and the engine is a torque monster with extremely high RPM. so u really cant compare it to a 1/10th.
