Starter box help
I need some help from you guys. I have never used a starter box before but looks like I am going to have to when I put the OS 18TZ in. I am not racing just play around with it. I do not want something that is going to break the bank but yet will still do the job. Any recommendations? Will I also need a bigger flywheel? Thanks

RE: Starter box help
I have a Q-World and i'm fine on starting a OS .21 VZB V-SPEC. As for the flywheel, don't worry. In the start i thought the same thing. Just buy a cheap starter box as there are many good and cheap ones. They all do the same job. No spec about the motor install on it. If your engine is brand new, don't forget to heat the head of the engine with a hairdryer. If you NOT do this, you will suffer!!! Engine stuck for good. Do you know how many tries i gave to start my engine??? It was like hell itself!!!! If you need any further info, post. We will be right here!!!

Thanks for the info. Yes I have broken in many engines and always wrap the head and heat it up good. Do not want to snap a conrod.

RE: Starter box help
why dont you get the pullstarter with it if you dont want to buy a starter box? personally i would recommend the mugen style box, that is flat on the top, and the entire thing goes down to activate the wheel.

I disagree about pullstarter, even rotostart and an electric starter. I hate the reduction of performance because of these things. Indeed is an easy way to start your engine but i prefer the engine without any start system.

RE: Starter box help
Get the Mugen pro-start, it's the best, simple as that. It's expensive, but it's simple and will last forever. The two motors will turn over any small block, no problem. Osiris, you know that a starter box that starts 1/8th off road cars (v-spec) is totally wrong for 1/10th? Wrong position of opening, wrong orientation of wheel (horizontal, as opposed to vertical).
I also recommend a pull start though, although a properly sealed engine is always a good idea. Charging starter box batteries just adds to the hassle. If you are not racing, they're not worth it.

RE: Starter box help
That with the horizontal and vertical position, i know it. My Q-World starter box, just fit all of them. 1/8-1/10 (vertical OR horizontal). I didn't said, to go and get a starter box that doesn't fits your car.
And that with the batteries of the starter box, i agree with you, so i always run my starter box using the battery of "my" car (a real car, not a RC). I create some extensions so that i can go anywhere without the car be close to me
