Default Having the worst problem

OK well I have a 1/10 scale Smartech nitro car. The car runs great except for its on its 3rd set of tranny gears. When I install new gears I do space them properly and make sure theres no gaps at all and it still burns through the gears like crazy only had the car for 3 months now. Do they make a stronger gear for these cars? Or know of another tpe from a different car I can use these gears are expensive they go for around $10 a pop. I tried the Traxas T-Maxx gears but there too small. Any help would be appriciated

Maybe the break applies while full throtling...that's usual. If not then check if the differential gears are ok...they might look and spin good but a broken gear tooth when rpm get high can cause instant braking during 1/10 of a second and kill your gears. I can't help any further I'm afraid since I never had a smartech...

Erm, you want there to be a gap between the gears so that there is little friction... They reason they are burning is becacuse they are rubbing against eachother while spinning. Try searching this forum for 'gear mesh'.

OMG now I noticed...I thought you had left a gap between them...!!! Take a paper, put it between the gears, get them slose, secure the engine screws and then remove the paper. It's not the best method but will do the job.

Gear mesh is very simple for nitro cars, just fold a piece of regular photocopy paper in half and insert it between the gears. Now push the gears together as HARD AS YOU CAN, and tighten up the engine mounts. Remove paper, and presto! Perfect mesh. Try one more set of gears, setting the mesh properly like that, ad see how you go.

Don't run your car unless you do that...you just saved your gears from certain death...LOL
