Hi ive got a tamiya all i no is its a tgs chassis no idea about the engine i got told to buy something cheap to start off with so i got this off ebay but i got told its not been started in around 3 years its been stored properly so i got told.

So is it safe to just fill up and try to start?

Ive just read not to use old fuel so i will have to wait until tomorrow until my local shop opens up.

Since you need new fuel might aswell pick up a new glow plug aswell for added measure.

If it was me I'd open it up, clean it all out and lube it up before closing it
Then try to start it

I personally would drop in a new plug right from the start, get the fuel tank fill it with alochal shake the tank around and flush it out, then do the same to the fuel lines(or replace them), and as far as the engine goes id serously flood it with after run oil leave it over night and then turn the motor over without the glow in place till almost all the afterrun is out, strap on the glow plug and pray for best!!!


ive done it on cars/engine that havent bein started in a long time works everytime

umm.. go with new fuel. if you had said what engine it was i wudda told what percent to put in it. but go with a new plug as well. also to get it started easier try to usa a blow dryer on the cooling for a minute or two.

You can use after run oil or sometimes I use sewing machine oil

basically to lube all the sewing machines gearing etc

if you have tools an confidence, best to remove engine from car, take off pullstart an back plate so can see condition of rear bearing an crankcase if sludged up from old fuel gone off.If rotate flywheel by hand does it rotate smoothly on notchy?

I ran my rs4 last week after 2 years. 1 Pull start with no afterrun or anything and same plug. I used to run with airplane fuel by accident which has more oil for lube but smokes more.
