Default a little advice

ok i have gotten some axles and have my idea planed out, i have been looking at some pictures and some of these rcrigs are built out of plastic or skinny metal rods, while some are thicker metal and stronger looking such as wookies new tlt's monster drive shaft. i am just wondering cause from the [1:1] sport i have learned build it right the first time instead of build it cheap and fix it later. thanks

For rods I am using 6mm solid aluminium and Traxxas heavy duty rod ends.

As for skidplates I have 2mm thick aluminiumplate formed around the axles.
First version (plate1.jpg) after some driving. Second version (plate2.jpg) sems to be holding together.

I dont race, just backyardbashing, but for that it works just great.

If yo have more questions, ask and I try to answer.

thanks a lot that helps out. so i guess im gonna go ahead and give it some strength better to be a little over protected than break something the first time i hit a rock. thanks here is some [1:1] carnage shots. that red tj has its rear wheel about 3 feet off the ground only reason it did not roll is due to 3 guys who jumped on.
