I am soon going to make a clod crawler and was wondering what cahssis setup to use here is a list-
The first one(starting from the left) is the kustomkrawlerz one that I can get for $165 plus aluminum shocks which can be found here-http://www.customcrawlerz.com/
The second(also best looking IMO) is the spyda. It is 200$ and can be found here-http://www.monstertruckparts.com.au/
The last one which I'm am seriously considering is the CX chassis. It come with a 4 wheel steering setup. $180 for this one.
Lastly, The Mach1 which isn't shown. It can be found here-http://www.monstertruckparts.com.au/
Also, what ESC should I use? I will be running a 14.4 volt system and would like to have reverse. I will also be running 181 oz inch servos for 4 wheel steering. Is this sufficient? Do I need alumiunm shocks and bearings?
Thanks

I am new to this crawling I have just had my clod for about two weeks. I have heard a lot of good things about the CX chassis at other forums. I would do all the research I could before I bought one.

Here are some more chassis:
http://www.clodparts.com/catagories/..._crawling.html
For crawling is the Gecko 2 very popular.
Any reason to run 14.4V?
Crawling is about tourqe not speed and then there are either Magnetic Mayhems from Kyosho (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXW928&P=ML) or Integy Lathe http://integy.automated-shops.com/cg...20105054562.b4
For esc is the Super Roster (http://www.teamnovak.com/products/es...r/super_ro.htm) good, if you want to run 14.4 try to get a EVX from Traxxas.
Bearings is always a good choise to put in axles, do that first.

The Lath motors will give you less speed and more torque. Also they are shorter then the MM' and alow for easier design of your 4 links. Also, if you use the mm's you should really gear down to a 9tooth pinion which means you need to get adjustable motor mounts...
There is no point in runnin 14.4v. You just add a lot of weight.
The super Rooster is a great ESC!
Also the Lath motors pull less draw off of your esc extending battery life. 2 55's = 27.5 draw on the esc and 2 mm's (22t) = 11T draw so you can over heat eaisier.
If you are having problems with your servos halting your movement then just add a 4 or 5 small cell RX pack and you will see a huge improvement in your streering power and stalling. I use an inexpensive ESC so I need the extra RX batt. But with the Rooster, you may not need it... Hope that helps.... And for chassis, Why not build your own? It's fn and very rewarding to be able to say you actually made your rig. G.

I though about building my own but I think it would be less of a hassle to build my own. I've built my own before and after about seventy eleven hundred designs I finally got it to work. So I figure I'd just by an already built one that would look better than anything I could make and without the hassle.

Hey mann the Gecko 2 is an awsome Chassis to start with. Some of the best crawlers around use them. They basically start with the chassis and then slightly mod it to fit their driving style. Only thing is that they can be hard to fine used. Most people that have them never get rid of them.
Good luck with your build up.
O and it looks great. [8D]

Question about building a crawler. I have an old clodbuster, want to make a crawler out of it after seeing this post. Now I do not want to start any trouble here, soooooo, I respect everyones ideas and thoughts as to what is better than this or that, what do I save from the old clod buster if anything other than the front and rear ends? I'll be buying new parts so if there are a couple of good sites to visit for parts that would be appreciated.
