I've been remodeling offices for years and I had the same idea several years ago and found that a tamiya battle tank worked the best due to traction issues when you start running out several feet of cable it tends to get very heavy for a small rc vehicle. So the tank had gobs of torque and traction needed for the task, I had intended to install and small wireless camera but back then they were just too expensive, but the tank worked great!! Oh we did add alittle weight to tank for extra traction in those dusty areas. A wheeled vehicle just got to hung up too much and did quite have the traction and menuverability with the load of a cable behind it.
Good Luck and have fun in whatever you choose that works out for you!!

what if i built a larger scale one would that be able handle the weight. we usualy run cat 5 and it can get pretty heavy somtimes.
the reason i dont want to use a tank is because i would like to start rock crawlin too. i have some ideas on how to build it i just need a little help.
