Thats more of a trial truck than a crawler.
If you want a crawler and I Imagen your on a budget advise you getting a scorpion.
But if your not a serious crawler the tamiya is a really nice kit.

The hilux isn't no wear near a thousand bucks.
Even with all the accessories it still wont ad up.

A good condition Hilux is easily over $1000, good condition bodies alone go over $200 all the time. You can't get much more scale than a Hilux.

Check out the CR-01 before you set your mind on a Highlift, and remember that the Highlift comes as a f-350 and as a Hilux.

Here are a few build/review threads:

Depends on whether you mean the Hi lift Hilux or the original Hilux.

Which model to get depends on how scale you want it. The Axial Scorpion is a great rock crawler but isn't scale. The CR01 Land Cruiser is more scale but not as capable. The CC01 makes a nice scale truck but isn't much of a crawler. The hi lift is a nice looking truck but is somewhere between the CR01 and CC01 in terms of climbing ability.

Another option is to go with the Scorpion and run 1.9" wheels and tires on it with an X trail frame.
Here is a build using the scorpion and xtrail chassis. http://www.myrcmt.com/bd/showthread.php?t=6184
