Default AX10 RTR or Cliffclimber?

O.K. I have read through a lot of these threads. But I still don't know much about crawlers (or trucks for that matter). I am an airplane/heli guy, but here on Oahu, the winds are wicked on a lot of days. Plus the flying field is on the other side of the island. Anyhow (sorry for the long intro), I was looking into getting a truck. I bought the Stampede, but, I find that I would rather crawl than chase the kids around the yard. Here's what I know:

I don't think I'll get into compition- this is just for screwing around in the yard
I want an RTR- the helis take up a lot of my build/maintenance time + I am out of the country a lot
I am a fan of "upgrade when it breaks"
I want to spend around $250-$300
I have a 9C radio, but it's on 72MhZ, so I don't want to use that on the crawler, or buy a new radio
Later on, I will probably lean towards a scale crawler, if I enjoy it as much as I hope

So, I had narrowed it down to the AX 10 or the Cliffclimber. The drawbacks seem to be:
AX10: limited articulation, very poor electronics, too fast
Cliffclimber: clodstall (?), small

So, you guys who are the experts; which would you choose? Also, if there are any other major draw backs to either truck, please include that too.
Thanks for the help!!

I own both. While the CC is a fun little rig, I too would recommend the ARTR Axial.

Just a more capable rig over all.

I agree with the ARTR. I just ordered one to tide me over untill I can get the XTM super-class.
