the semi droop is when you set it down it drops about an inch. full droop is no springs. there was a 45 degree hill i had trouble with and the springs helped a lot. the hot bodies rovers are on backorder according to the lhs.

Thanks for the input. Did you not like the tires Venom included with the Creeper? I've been very happy with them. I like the soft, grippy compound. Have you drilled holes in your tires?

usually you want to drill two holes (1/8 size) 180 degrees apart on the inside of the rim, right through the lead weights if you use them. the stock tires are ok, but the others i mentioned are better for comps.

1/8 hole don't allow any debris in and also the tire foam stops it getting in the tire.

in some rare instances if you had a hole in the tire it could snag on something, or pickup water easily. also it's what ckrc crawlers says to do

and after much searching i finally found the aluminum axle c's and knuckles at hobbyetc.com for my creeper, they are made by hot racing so they should be good. crp2101 and crp1901.

Looks very well done. So, obviously, the steering must be pretty amazing. Are the steering servos positioned opposite from one-another so they coordinate in a turn? Are they connected to the receiver through a Y harness?

i'm only using front steering, i have thehot racing staight axle conversion on the rear. mine is a dedicated crawler, i have other trucks for play time- one of which is a heavily modified cliff climber.

RE: Official Venom Creeper Rock Crawler thread..
Hi, i just got my venom crawler in about a week ago. I have it fully assembled and was going through the process of breaking in my fireball motor. Everything was running fine at first, but i switched everything off ( crawler then the transmitter like most people suggest.)But when i turned it back on ( transmitter then crawler). I was going to start my second break in session at roughly half throttle and when i did the motor sounded like it was working but shaft wasn't spinning and the wheels weren't turning. I had the crawler off the ground so there wouldn't be any resistance on the motor except the weight of the wheels. Also everything else works fine such as the steering etc. If you can provide any troubleshooting help or advice it would be much appreciated. This is my first rc crawler and truck in general. So im totally stumped and need help.

Hey 56-jeephead, just wanted to say appreciate the help. I checked the pinion and i guess your right i think it came loose cuz i can rotate the wheels and the gear moves but the shaft for the motor doesn't. Even though i used loctite. Freakin wierd...haha. Time to pull the motor and give it another shot.

The problem is that Loctite doesn't hold well on parts that have a poor fit between the threads...which is quite often the case with pinions. When you redo that pinion, you might want to use nail polish instead of Loctite. I saw someone else said they use nail polish and recently tried it out and it does indeed work great. Put it on the set screw and let it dry first before installing it. Nice snug fit.

iv'e found that if you use blue loctite it's best to let it set up for a couple of days, that being done it works awesome. though i might try your nail polish tip it sounds good, i might even put it on a couple of extra setscrews for a field repair.

The creeper has plenty of Torque right out of the box I have reduced mine form a 50 turn motor down to 45 turn and I am thinking of putting in a 35 turn for a little more wheel speed. They crawl really well with the CKRC stage two mods.

On metal to metal parts requiring thread lock its best to degrease the parts first, apply thread lock and assemble, let it cure, then lubricate. I have parts that have run for over a year and no problems. If the lube gets in there with the thread lock then it wont cure or it will cure partially/poorly. You will think you did it right but in effect you just bought time.

one time i snapped a cvd pin on the left front into 3 pieces, not having time to let threadlock cure i used losi tire glue(thin) on the setscrewand it still is working. it's awesome that there are many ways to do a thing.

I am getting the Venom Creeper soon I'm getting the one off of ckrccrawlers.com the comes with the stage two suspension and I'm getting the Novak Rooster ESC with the 55t motor and remote locker kit and Venom 3rt 3 channel remote with receiver and Futaba s9157 servo. Is that gonna be a good set up any tips or advice or warnings?
