Okay so my line up of rigs:
T-Maxx 3.3 (clutch fried)
Revo 3.3 (new motor but clutch almost fried)
1/16 E-Revo VXL
HPISprint 2 Flux
Tamiya DF-03Ra
Tamiya TT-01E
HPIRS4 3 EVO(SOLDTHANKGOD)
Axial AX10 Kit - Built by a buddy with the stock ESC and motor just with alloy links not found on the rtr version.
I enjoy building Tamiya kits and am looking into either the CR-01 or High-Lift or Hi-Lux...can't make up my mind. I am also wanting to get a trail rig...too bad the new Axial SCX10 TR with that nice Dingo body is a freakin RTR!!
Building calms me down after work...hahaha seems like I spend 90% building and 10% driving. By the time I get home it's dark anyways.

So basically I want a trail rig that is capable of mild rock crawling that is as scale as possible but I have no experience in bulding rock crawlers.

From your description of what you want, I'd suggest a Tamiya CC01/xc01 chassis vehicle (very realistic and capable chassis).
These are also pretty good.

I have a CC01 chassis with a toy hummer body. Nice and scale but gets stuck on some pretty small harmless objects, IMO. I also have that Tamiya F150........and I like it too.
If you like building, they are simple to do, maybe too simple. The Highlift is more complex. I enjoyed that build until I had to go back into the tranni when I was almost done, which is pain. [:@]
