Default NiMH NiCAD

Is there a reason to discharging NiMH completely? According to the manual of LiPo Balance Charger, the NiMH battery can has some voltage residue or some sort of memory effect. I know only the NiCAD has memory effect. Will the memory effect stay permanent?

Default RE: NiMH NiCAD

NiMH does have a memory effect; it's just not quite as bad as NiMH. Over time, the batteries will develop enough "memory" that they won't be much use any more. But if you take care of them and discharge them completely before charging them again, you can make the batteries last a very long time. The other nice thing about NiMH is that if you have some batteries that aren't taking a full charge, you can do some deep cycling and bring them back to life sometimes.
