Default Best Sails/Best Masts

I know this is a subjective question but who do you think is the best sail maker and carbon mast producer available to us? Who have you had good, prompt service from and who is slow and ify?

My personal recommendation for sail maker is Chuck Black. Though he tends to be a little busy and does make his on a first come first served basis.
Related to masts, I have purchased both from Don Ginter of Great Basin Model Yachts www.gbmy.com and from George Ribero both have links to their web site on www.amya.org
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Sackie, for the recommendations. I've seen both sites during my surfing adventures. I'll check them out more closely. P45

A friend gave me the plans for a set of Victoria sails and I'm thinking of trying to make my own...under my wife's adult supervision.

It doesn't look like rocket surgery. Not sure where he got the plans but I can try to find out if anyone else wants to try.

Making sails isn't rocket science, it's a matter of making a lot of sails until you've gotten it right.
I'm currently making my fourth set and every time the results get better (aka the boat sails better)

Having a lot of Mylar sheet at hand, surely helps, as it's very easy to work with.

When you have a go at panelled sails, the fun really starts!

Make a sail-board to get the curvature right.

Regards, Jan.

I bought the Sail making kit for R/C Sailboats from ebay. I am very happy with the kit.
It is high quality, and the instructions are easy to follow. I found the sail maker’s block easy to use. I highly recommend this kit if you want to make your own sails.

Attached Picture is the first sails I made.

Mpot - Where, what brand, etc is your sail making kit from? I'd be interested in looking at it if you can provide any more information.

He makes two sizes one for large & one for small. I bought the small kit for my 36” Sanibel.
It had more than enough material for 600 sq. in. sails.
