I inherited a fully built Robbe Atlantis in excellent Shape. I am not putting this in the for sale area at this time because I'm looking to have a few basic questions answered first. I'm located in Kalamazoo, MI. My uncle passed away a few months ago and this was his baby. I'm not into RC sailboats. I've got tons of pictures of it on the water as well as here at my home. However it's way too tall to fit in the area which I had intended to put it. I was going to keep it and use it for decor but I'd rather see it in the hands of someone who can better appreciate and use it. I've seen the price of the kits - When available. I'm curious as to avg value of this model as built. I'm attaching a picture of the boat last year on the water in action. She's a beauty.

First of all he didn't build it. He paid alot for it and lived on a lake. Second of all I have many other articles of his that are heirlooms. Third of all I don't have alot of money and I know he'd like to see it in the hands of someone who is near a body of water or in a club who can use it to the fullest. 4th I'm looking for value and or information at this time. Did you see a price on it?
It really pisses me off you jump right into degrading me without even responding to me privately. Do you do this to everyone else on this forum? You must be the type of person who flags people out in front of others to make yourself feel better. I call it low self esteem. So take your comment and shove it where the sun don't shine. The first guy who responded should be commended. Who knows I may keep it if I get enough local help or information. This post was to get more information. Which I hope others will still be nice enough to help me with. I'd like to know if these kits are common, uncommon, parts available, prices. Value, etc.

Thanks Ron. I brought it home yesterday and had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to set up the sails. There's a ton of wires..lol. It's just way above my current skill level. Not being around RC boats or planes I'm not yet up to par on servos or more complicated RC models. My real hope is to get "information" on here so that I better understand what I have and make any decisions from that point. -whether to keep or sell-

Sorry that I can't help you out more. Like I said, I haven't seen any sailboats running here in town and really don't know of anyone here that could give you any first-hand help otherwise I'd contact them. Most of the people that I know in the city run gas, nitro or electric boats. There used to be a scale ship modelers club that ran at Cooper Park in Comstock and that other park out by Echo Valley at Campbell Lake. As you know, the local hobby shops aren't going to be any help either.

why would i respond to you in private this is a forum!!,if i offended you i guess im sorry but like i said from your post i got the impression you were looking to make a quick buck or two from this boat.maybe i got it wrong but i was trying to get the point across that if he loved this boat so much (his baby) then he might be a bit upset to see you selling it on!!.if you decide on keeping her im sure you will be very happy with her as these boats sail very well indeed and are very fast boats on the water.ive seen one on the lake but i know nothing about these boats so i cant help you out on info on price or setting up etc.try this link.[link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3554313/tm.htm[/link] theres some info on there about this boat hope this helps.try the guys site he has a cool video of her in action too, also you could contact this guy for info on her,who knows if you are intent on selling her he might be interested.

Thanks. Hopefully we just got off on the wrong foot. I'd like to learn all I can about this boat. It's just a little overwhelming at the moment. I'll check out that link.

Hi Joe,
First off, want to say that sure is a beautifully done Atlantis your uncle left you! I would like to help you with your questions but I fear that the value one may be too subjective for me to guess, since I doubt I'd ever try to sale mine. And it pretty much depends on who you come across in the marketplace. But I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have.

While not seen often here, Atlantis can be had all day long from several importers, including harbormodels.com and http://www.ikarus-modellbau.de/onlin...52ad1.20519855
- note that there is a basic kit plus several mandatory accessories, totals out just over $1000 plus radio plus shipping.
No idea about "built" value. Many kit builders want to BUILD, and a built kit offers little additional value. Fewer out there I'm afraid who'll pay top $ for a built kit, or who can afford to buy the kit AND pay someone enough to cover their time, but they're around. You'll need t find someone who really wants THAT model. Good luck!
Might try looking up local AMYA people, ask their clubs (Detroit and Ann Arbor), but they're mostly into racing yachts. Or bring it by Hillsdale for the MSMBC Sept Fun Run, we'll try to figger it out! www.michiganmodelboats.com

Pat, do you know if the club here in Kalamazoo is still active? The last I knew they weren't using the pond at Robert Morris Park in Comstock (Campbell Lake). The old site at Cooper Park is about 1-1/2 miles down the street from me, I got married to my current wife there by the waterfall.
If anyone from that club is still around, maybe they can give Joe some help.

I have had my Atlantis for the last 14 years. Forget about the cost of the kit, it is way over that cost. It was your unlces baby due to all the sweat and hours he put into building it. I am constantly adding custom parts I mold with my dremel, do the same and enjoy what your uncle left to you, I am sure he will appreciate it where he is!
