Default Looking at a Sailboat, need help

OK, I had a post awhile back about getting plans for my dad so he could get back into sailing RC style. Well that kinda fell through for christmas. I have talked with my sister and she and i are going to buy a boat for him for his birthday coming up. I have been looking all over and researching and came up with 3 boats.

the Thunder Tiger Victoria Yacht Sailboat

the KYOSHO 40460 SEAWIND SAILBOAT

and the Nirvana II from sailrc.com

He is an experienced sailor. What do you guys recommed for a boat? Are these 3 any good, or are there any others out there you would recommend?

Thanks

I think those are all decent boats. If you think he might want to race with others as in class races, you might want to check class populations around your area and see if there are any clubs, you can find this and more info here: [link=http://www.modelyacht.org/membership/classowners.html]AMYA[/link]

The Victoria can be built stock for around say $150 but mods can drive that up. SeaWinds are a little bigger and go faster and the plastic version kits seem to be going for around $290 plus radio gear. If it is to be kept legal for the class modifications are not allowed save for improving the hatch to keep water from entering there.

I can't comment about the Nirvana, other than nice boat I hear. I don't think there is an AMYA class for it unless it can be in an unlimited class or something.

I have a Victoria and am building a Footy. The club I belong to started generally with Vics and seems to be moving towards SeaWinds.

Yeah ive looked around our area for clubs, and the closest ones are in chicago, so im not to worried about the clubs. Its mainly gonna be used for just going out and having a nice relaxing time and just having some fun really. I run Nitro trucks, and want to get into boats, and since my dad and i like to sail i think this would be a good thing to get into. So just for fun not lookin to race really.

Thanks for the info. Im kinda thinkin about the victoria after reading a few other posts on here, but the nirvana looks like his old boat he used to have so we will see.

Welp i figuredout what im going to get. Since the Nirvana isnt avaliable anywhere except ebay and the 2 i saw on there werent very good. once was completly busted and one was missing some parts. So i figured for 150 bucks i would go to tower hobbies and pick up the Victoria and radio set. Plus the upside to this one is alot of the clubs around chicago run these boats so if he does decide to join he can. and it also apears the victoria has a few sites out there with some nifty modifications that are pretty simple and cheap.

Thanks
