RE: HALF SCALE DH 2
ORIGINAL: jharkin The math of scaling power doesn't work that way.
For what its worth, to compare the DRI (full scale) to the DH-2 (full scale), the DH-2 has about 1.6x the flat plate area over the DRI. Lots of wires on that mother.
(I don't have any FPA equivalent for the Fok D6)

Kool project guys, but I got you beat. I started my 1/1 scale Nieuport this month. Of course, I'll have to sit in it to fly mine.
See you guys in July, we have ODP on our calendar.

RE: HALF SCALE DH 2
Your DH 2 is going to be a really interesting project. I have always thought they were neat looking planes. I'll be watching the progress.
As for my 1-1 build, I have a thread going over at www.theaerodrome.com.

The metal parts look nice, are they water jet cut? I'm guessing that tape measure is about 3'' across the bottom, wow about a foot wide or a tad more?
Doc

RE: HALF SCALE DH 2
The DH2 build is starting off a little slow..because I'm trying to finish 2-4 other planes at the same time. By mid Feb. we will put it into turbo mode!!
Doc I was told the metal parts were cnc router cut parts
2nd box was inventoried and the other pics shows the start of laminations

Hey Del!
Yeah, I agree, there is alot of neat parts and the quality is right up there too...
As for the camera idea......there would be alot of "beeps" for foul language (me)and with the constant arm flailing of Barry ...it would look like he is having a seizure 24/7
Soooo maybe we should just keep it this way

RE: HALF SCALE DH 2
The flailing of the arms is simply a defense mechanism to avoid being struck, or deflecting objects being thrown about the shop at high velocity, generally choreographed to the above mentiond language.

Hey Doc....
Are referring the word "risky" toward poor workmanship or toward "Brokeback Mountian risky?"

RE: HALF SCALE DH 2
This is part of the reason I like building "half scale",you get to use air tools!! Yes thats a air powered nailer and a 90 degree air sander for rough sanding glue off....
The other pic is the start of the landing gear bottom brace with 1/2 " carbon fiber tubes
Cant load pics[:@]

RE: HALF SCALE DH 2
This is going to be one of those "Love/Hate" topics.........
I ran into this up at Fond-du-lac.
There was a guy up there with a killer scale 1/3 DH 1 with two pilots that were skeletons with worn and tattered clothing, goggles w/ a missing lens, etc...
I seen it and I told that guy that was the coolest part of the plane! He said the guy right before me said it was a beautiful scale plane but the pilots were pitiful!
So weigh in and tell me what you think
Jones (D6 pilot) on the left ...........Bones (DH 2 pilot) on the right.............wife making his shredded uniform soon..........
