Default 1/4 Scale Luscombe

A little progress on my 1/4 JMD Luscombe. The engine kit is from Topnotchkits. It is plywood and painted. I then mounted it to my Zenoah G20. The instruments are from Iflytailies. I used plywood for the base of the panel and 1/32 fiberglass sheet in the area that is stepped out and the glove box. The wood is 1/32 ply that has been stained. The control sticks are made from K&S tubing that has been bent and a dowel drilled out to fit the tubing and then stained with the same stain as the dash. It is slow goings but I hope to have the plane done by May 1 and then take it to the Nats in July.

Here are a couple pictures. One shows a couple different attempts at the grills for the cowl.

This one kind of fell in my lap. I have been making a lot of changes. I hope next month to be shooting paint. Here are some more pictures. I got the dash completed. I put the receiver power switch and two charge jacks in the glove box and the throttle is the switch for the ignition. Also I got the landing lights installed. Last I had to change the shape of the stabs as my uncles plane has late model stabs with early model surfaces. The early stabs had rounded tips which were later changed out to a square tip to ease construction.

The airplane was built as a Fabric winged version which will be getting sheeted with Fliteskin to make a metal winged Luscombe. In doing so the struts needed to be changed from a 2 piece strut with a jury strut to a single strut. This also allowed me to drop the strut attachment point on the fuse to a scale location. It was about 1.5" to high.

I gather you are building it as an 8E ?

My dad did a fair bit of his private pilot training in Silvaire, finished up in a Taylorcraft.

I have been trying to find out about this 1/4 scale Luscombe from JMD but their web site is not easy to navigate. Every time I click on a choice it directs me to other web sites. I can't find the 1/4 scale Luscombe kit from them. Can anyone tell me how to at least view their kits?

I believe JMD is closed. I seem to remember the owner passing before to many of these kits got out. He had a Globe Swift that I would love to have as well. If anyone has one please let me know.
