Push, pull, left, right, straight, backwards, sun in the eyes, wind at my back ............... I just fly. Never do I give it any thought. Unfortuntly my elevator has a push for up. No other way to do it. It will work fine. You guys are funny. Besides for those who do know me they know I'm a crazy man when I fly...........

Hey, I can personally vouch for Tom's flying skills. He flys very well built, giant scale warbirds at many high prestige events like The Rhinebeck Jamboree.
I always enjoy watching him fly from the safety of the bunker and cheer for him when he goes out to retrieve his plane from the woods or occasionally from the runway.
Whit
All in fun, Rhinebeck would not be the same without him and his flying works of art. He has won one of the Best in Class awards at the Jamboree just about every year for the last decade.

Please explain.
I don't understand. What and where is the stop?
Thanks.

Hey Doc
Yes the small tubes soldered on the large ones stop the bellcrank from movement. Works great! I've been working on it most of the day today, hope to maybe get some more pic's up later.

Is there anyone out ther who actually knows the answer to this?
How does a small brass tube soldered to the circumference of a larger tube stop rotation? Is there a stop invisible to just me? I don't understand.

It is only for the integrity of the bell crank, prevents the brass tube from breaking free (in rotation) from the G10 material. Instead of just a circle glued into a hole, you have a figure eight glued into the G10 with the larger circle of the figure eight in the center and being the bearing surface. It has nada to do with any other part of the system. Alternatively you could pin through the G10 and the brass tube but then you would have to have the dowel rotate like a torque tube with bearing surfaces elsewhere. This allows the brass tube to be the bearing surface, easier, more compact.

I hope this will help.

That would be similar to adding a triangular reinforcing strip to the joint between a bulkead and fuselage side.
When people spoke of anti-rotation, to me I saw the idea of a positive stop to limit the amount of throw permitted for the bellcrank.
Shows you just how wrong you can be when you interpret things in view of your present knowledge or lack thereof.
Thanks for the clarification.

Hey guys, I am still plugging away. I have framed up the sub wing and waiting for the machinist to complete the landing gear mounting accessories. Tires purchased and modifiying to accomodate the bearing for our axle assembly. The next task while waiting for parts was to build the cockpit items. I have soldered the rudder pedal assembly. Tom is right on, your fingers lose a little skin during this part of the build. Additionally, solder the torque tube / yoke assembly. I still have to make the gun mounts which are going to be a piece of cake after tacklilng the rudder pedals. Here are some pics of the sub wing and the cockpit items.

The next task was building the pilot seat. I used lite ply and aluminum sheeting. Sharon is making the 1/2 scale pilot. She blew up plans for a 1/4 scale.Thie big issue is finding clothing. You now that things are getting big in your hobby when youhave to by shoes froma toddler section. We found some boots which worked out well.Sharon and I found some leather and fabric to make Manfred's flght suit. I will be using a 1//2 scale goggle kit purchased from Vogelsang Aviation. More pics to come as the pilot comes together. Plan is to build a lightweight box to add sturcture and mass to the pilot. Have a few suprises for you when he is all done.

Dino withdrew 4th round due to some pilots complaining. i dunno what it was abt but i would bet it cause he trashed his jusg during p[ractice and was flying a borrowed plane. and figuring politics assume the builder and flyer must be the same unless team event maybe?

Hi Gents
Yes I flew Pro Am Pro with Doug's GTM prototype D-7.
I did ok seeing it was my first flights of the season since Rhinebeck. Plus with someone elses plane. In my third flight I was actually hitting all 9.0-9.5s, on my landing my wheel came off. This knocked me to 11 place where as I would have most likely came in 3rd with the flight I was having. I did make the cut for there was a pilot who came in top 10 who dropped out. I elected not to fly for reasons being my good buddy Doug had to leave on friday for a family emergency. I just could not find it in me to continue with his plane and not have him there. All in all it was a great time a usual, the weather was great for flying during the week but got very windy on the weekend. As for Dino, he crashed in the first round not during practice. He was allowed to fly with Steves plane for the rest of the event but was egzempt," how ever you spell it" from placing. As for the Manhattan project, there was lots of drinking!!!!!
And all the crashes, Yes there was a **** load!.... Sad.... I'll post some TG pic's once I get them down loaded to my computer.

Here are some more pictures of the 3W 275 with the new custom muffler we had built for it. It is two mufflers joined into one. There is a divider in the center of the rectangle and there are various baffles inside as well. The hatch comes off so it can be bolted on. They tubes are 1.25".
