I just wanted to pass along some great news, my friend Earl Aune (Some of you may know him from US Scale Masters) has started building Scale Tailwheel Assemblies again. I have had the great fortune to pick up a couple of them in the last 3 weeks and Earl is working on a 3rd one for me. I am attaching a couple of pictures so you guys can see what he has been building. I picked up the Tailwheel Assembly for a couple of future projects, the new TF Giant Scale F4U Corsair ARF and the Ziroli 96" Wingspan Hellcat. His pricing is VERY competitive and I am sure you will be pleased! Just shoot him an e-mail; he is great about responding.

I have one of Earl's tail wheels for a Ziroli Hellcat that is under construction. Top quality, light weight and strong.

I dont think he is to great about responding, I sent him a E-Mail a month ago and still no response.

Sorry to hear that; there could be many reasons why you did not receive a response. Could you please send him another e-mail, I know he is spending a great deal of time designing new assemblies and manufacturing existing ones. I know he would be very happy to hear from you!

Cub Boy what age bracket is Earl in? I know some of the old timers in the past have suffered sudden health issues causing an interpution in comunications. I hope Earl isn't one of them. It would be heartbreaking to think we could lose a man with such craftsmanship.

I was excited to see this thread a week or so ago and imediately contacted him as well as telling a friend about him/them. My friend (in CA) already has a stock Ziroli in hand from him and my special order is being made (for a Meister F4U) now. He responded wthin a day to all of our emails. Perhaps check the email address you are sending to? I used the one at the top of this thread.

Try the email address above and I think you will get a response. I sent Earl an email for a price quote at 13:27 today and got the reply at 15:34 today. Not too shabby a response time. Responding email included pictures, full description, price, and an estimate on the time to build the tail wheel including paint.

I forgot to mention the tail wheel includes a working tailhook to be lowered by a micro servo for flybys if desired.

I just received a Dave Platt ZERO tailwheel retract from Earl Aune. It is a real beauty, light weight, included the tailwheel and was a bargin to boot ! I had a number of e-mail communications with Earl and he responded quickly each time. ([email protected]). Very satisfied with the product and customer service. ' buff

The last time I tried him via email I received no answer. Have not tried the landline though.

There is a guy over on RCG looking for a custom tail wheel assembly for a laser kit I own but I'm afraid to mention Earl unless I know he is still in business. A lot of the older guys run into health issues and there is no way for any of us know about it.

I found on LinkedIn an Earl Aune in Vancouver WA working as a consultant for a company outy of San Jose, CA with and interest in R/C Scale models. I can't contact him thru LinkedIn because I refuse to pay for an upgrade.
