Leroy, I think your computer guy is full of it. I am a professional software developer and have some of the best antivirus and malware software out available. I haven't had a single notification yet, he's talking through his hat or doesn't know what he is doing.

Mike

Robert I like the L-4 idea it presents enough of a challenge for you and has a lot of areas you could really sink your teeth into!

I vote for one of these gong to be the only flying P-61 Black Widow in the world. Completely rebuilt from a crashed plane found in the jungle. www.maam.org

Nice! My father in-law built the cockpit section for those during the war. He was turned down by every branch of the service including the Canadian services because he was deaf in one ear.

After working in an airplane factory I bet he was deaf in the other ear. I met a B-25 crewman this summer who said he ended up losing most of his hearing after flying on them because they were so loud and the VA never took care of him. Even back then.

I love the Black Widow. I built a control line P-61 when I was 15.
Face planted it first time out. New nothing about setting up a plane for flight and nobody to show me.
That was the last plane I built until recently. It is on my bucket list of RC planes.

Kevin

Ps

I forgot to add the widow was powered by 2 cox 049. Took way to much time to get them both running at the same time. I was rushed and was resepy for disaster. Way to much complexity for my level. Had no idea though.

Robert, I vote for the L-4! I'd love to see all the detail that will go into Cub Man's plans.

Mike I have no intent to start a debate, that post is about what I have been going through while on the RCU site. There is no problems what so ever otherwise where ever I go on my computer.

If you would be kind enough to explain why I only get blocked threats while on RCU I will gladly drop any further mention of it. By the way, other clubs members in the area have had some of the same problems and no longer visit this web site, must be something to it.

Leroy , if you use a script blocker, you'll get all kinds of errors, false positives / notifications.. just make sure you are up to date on your browser / plugins.

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but I haven't used an anti virus / malware program for years, just every once in a while I'll do a system wide scan; maybe once or twice a year with some freeware offerings, and not one infection, no issues, nada !... but I do have a full "clean" backup just in case.

He lost the hearing while he was in school. He had a mastoid operation to both ears and the received a blow to one ear afterwards and loss the hearing in that one ear. He then went on to aviation high school and then to work form Boeing during the war. He got his A&P while working for American Airlines after the war. He worked on DC-3s all the way up to the jets. AA got their first 777 right after he retired.

John M,
John is right, most websites are heavy script users, they are necessary for anytime animation or video use. Scripts can/are a part of the underlining code that makes the site work. Programming languages like Ajax and html allow the site to update only part of the page when you select a button etc., this increases speed by not requiring the whole page to be updated. A web page is actually built in layers, the part you see is the presentation layer. Below that you at least a middle layer where a lot of scripts run and a data layer. Still other layers can be present.

I didn't mean to start a debate, all I was saying was I doubt the diagnosis of this particular technician. I don't know if he is A+ certified or not but being a software professional active in program and web application development for 2 decades, I get a little touchy about comments made to and end user from someone who should know better! I would seriously consider getting a second opinion from a qualified A+ certified technician.

Regardless of where you go, If its one of the big box stores or one of the office supply places who do computer repair ask the technician about his qualifications.

Cliff thanks for that link on the Black Widow. It made for some interesting reading. I can only imagine how difficult the recovery was after seeing the photos of where the plane crashed...They should have made a movie about it...

Isn't it funny how we can plan to build something for months, and then, when the time arrives, we doubt our decision ?

When I started my Ryan, I planned to build mt Hostetler Fairchild next. I ended up by starting a Lockeheed Vega and A Kadet Senior.

I have my preference, but either model will be a joy to watch you build.

My father was an armorer in the 7th AAF 98 Bomber Group (Heavy), for the duration in the Pacific Theater (his campaign medal has 4 stars) and he flew as a replacement ball gunner on the B-29. His wing had a squadron of P-61s that followed him from island to island. He said at night they would pick up a wing or more of Imperial bombers coming their way and they would scramble the P-61s. Not one Japanese bomber ever got pass them. He was very impressed!

The P-61 was a real bad ***** of an airplane, as a kid I thought Black Widow was a real cool name. My uncle was a navy flier during the war and he said if you ever met one someone was going to be a widow. I'm surprised there hasn't been more stories about them. I don't know how many were made or how long they were in service.

Things are looking good for getting back to the Pitts. The shed is done, just need to clear everything out of my room now. The fabric and tapes came today as well as the new canopy. So hopefully next week I can get back to it.

Well, as usual with this build, might not get much done next week. Just returned from the doc and apparently I need to do a cath and more than likely get a stint. So depending on which day it is scheduled I may not be going to the MH until after.
