After the Ohio Dawn Patrol event this month, it would be great to see all of you at the second annual Mid Atlantic Dawn Patrol this fall, including those 1/2 scale beauties too. There are a couple of new full size WW1 era birds at the museum for you to enjoy too. Work screwed me up from going to last years MAD Patrol, but I will be there this year.

I may have to see if I can talk a buddy into going to this event. Every year I wish I could have made it. I don't think I would have a way to get any big planes there... But dang when the pics start getting posted I am always jealous as heck ....

This is a pic from our hanger last year..........pretty full huh? We are making more room for more overnight storage. We will have a 40 foot tractor trailer box available this year and we will have the metal overhang with sides ...if need be!

That's not too far........about the average driving time required for a really good event.........last year several of us from Indiana and Ohio went out to Virginia Beach for their first Mad Patrol.........the same driving time for me (9 or 10 hours)........shoot Allen Yendel traveled all the way from Texas for that Mad Patrol and that was a couple of days for him........pack your stuff and make some firm plans to attend.
You will not be disappointed!
Gas prices are dropping, so that shouldn't be a deterrent this year.

Can't believe ODP's coming up in just a few weeks!!!
Was just a few miles down the road from the airfield this last weekend attending the IOK Dawn Patrol. Bit warm and breezy, but overall a great weekend. Missed seeing most of you there, bye the bye!!!
When I arrived I saw a neat little Sopwith Pup (BUSA 1/4 Scale) on one of the benches with a 4-Sale sign on it.
Ended up bringing the 'lil Pup home with me!!!
Brand new, never flown - apparently the owner just didn't fancy having to mess with rigging wires (which are decorative elastic cord on this one!!) - the plane was also originally set up for glow, but I'll be going with a G26 on it (part of the sale). And who knows . . . just might have it ready for ODP !!!!

Don't forget the option of renting a baby U-Haul box. Fairly cheap, don't have to worry about break downs, sleep in the back of them for a couple of nights!
And most importantly you can bring all the planes you own!

I feel real bad that I could not make it this year. I have been busy as a "one arm paper hanger"!.............

I'm looking forward to Hogzilla and Chickenzilla! I will be bringing my two 1/3 scale planes: Nieu-28 and Siemens, and might test fly the 1/3 DH-2 there as well. That should be interesting! I haven't crashed at somebody else's field in a long time![X(] Seriously, I don't really expect to crash (fingers crossed), but you never know.

This year the ODP is going to be "off the hook". I can see it coming!
As for third scale, I see it as standard fare for many years to come - half scale subjects have so many limitations, storage and transportation being the main issues.
That being said, as soon as I get my piece of the bowling alley for my new building board (another limitation) I will be starting my half scale build, a Nieuport N-11.

EDIT, pulled up some maps, looks like 4 miles.. My friend was wanting to know if either place seemed dodgy as he said he would prefer spending a 100 over 60 if it was worth it

Paul , I have run into a snag on the half Scale paperwork ! I Really want to fly at your event , Flight papers turned into AMA is incomplete ! I am working on the problem . Dont count me out yet !
