Default Sopwith Pup Help

Hi

I am coming to the end of building a 1/8th scale Sopwith pup and now I am at the point were I need to choose what motor and propeller I need to pull this thing. I believe this related to the scale aircraft but am not sure and I apologies profusely if I have posted this in the wrong place. So anyway here are some of the details that I believe will help you help me decide on what electric motor and prop I need:

Rough weight: 1.5 kg

Room (height) in cowl for motor: 40mm

Reason in which the weight is rough, because I weighed it without the wheels and electronics which was 1.1kg. Finally I thank you for reading this and hope you can help me.

Thanks

Ben

I'd be making this electric.

But if that is anathema to you, then an OS 30 FS might fit.

Is this the DB Sport and Scale kit?

Cheers,

Hugh

I'm thinking of making electric now, I don't think my plan is from DB Sport but it is very similar these are the parts I'm thinking of using:

Motor: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...50Kv_600W.html

ESC: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...C_4A_UBEC.html

Propeller: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking..._1pc_bag_.html

Battery: http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking...Lipo_Pack.html

So these are based of the recommended electronics on the DB Sport website what do you think is there are problem using all these electronics together?

Thanks Again,

Ben

That all seems like a lot of power for a 1/8 scale Pup.
Enough to power a 1/6 Scale BUSA Pup I would have said.

And you won't get very long flight times from a 2100 MAh pack like that I would have thought.

Others may know more.

Cheers,

Hugh

Ok would it matter if this was to much power what harm would it do to my plane?

Thanks,

Ben

Make it almost impossible to fly. Oh, and BTW, that Prop really is not suited to the motor.

Cheers,

Hugh
