Default scaleing up

The question is,if a model has a wing span of 18.5" and it's 1/20 scale what would be the wingspan at 1/3 or 1/4 scale, and how do you convert it ???? Thank you Don

18.5" * 20 = 370" to get the size for the full size plane, since it's 1/20th the size of the original.

then...

370" / 3 = 123.33" for 1/3 scale

370" / 4 = 92.5" for 1/4 scale

A final formula to sum it up..

(scale length / Original scale) * (new scale)

for 1/4 scale:

(18.5 / .05) * .25 = 92.5

where .05 is 1/20 and .25 is 1/4

I have fond a somewhat easier way of scaling... Yor simply divide your current scale with the desired scale and multiply that with the current wingspan. In this case 20/3 * 18,5 (current wingspan) = 123.33in, or 3/20 * 123.33 = 18,5in to scale form 1:4 to 1:20....Easy
In addition you can easily calculate the area of the wing after scaling. The current area * scale ratio²... If your plane currently have 30sq.in and you scale from 1:20 to 1:3.... 30sq.in * 44.44 = 1333sq.in
