Default Applying Solartex over primed wood?

I may have asked this before but am not sure I got an answer. Is it possible to apply Solartex on top of a primer coating? I notice that when the Solartex (antique) is ironed directly to the balsa you see all the wood grain and this isn't right for my Eindecker. What I'd like to do is paint the entire frame with light grey primer to cover the grain and then apply the solartex over that.

I guess it would all depend on the primer. Try testing it on some scrap first, it's the only way to know for sure.
