Do USAF drones count?
Otherwise, as I understand it, the AMA specifies a top weight of 55 lbs here in the US but in Europe there is no maximum weight limit. You mgiht want to ask this question in the Giant Scale forum.

There is a 300 lb B-52 model currently being flown; it uses eight turbine engines and has a HUGE wingspan; something on the order of 27 feet if I remember right. There is a thread here on RCU with information about it.

The largest R/C model currently is in the Guiness Book of Records. It was flown at the LA FERTE Giant fly-in last year. It is a huge B-29 with I think a weight of 450 pounds which makes it a Class 3.

Hey guys
I am thinking of a normal (reciprocating)gas engine - propeller combination.
Which is largest propeller driven rc model plane whether its scaled down or completely custom made.

Class 3 is a term given by the European IMAA for planes over 55 pounds. You have to have the plane inspected by the Aviation Authorities and if it passes, you are given a permit to fly the plane for one year at events.

That is right! This B 29 takes a crew of three pilot and flight engineers. One guy flies the plane, one controls the engines and the third takes care of landing gear, flaps... Bart Vercruysen and his team did operate this machine from Belgium. The last I heard the team has separated.
