I know this post is qquite old,but perhaps you or someone else would be interested in a Eurokit
Yak 18.Fiberglass fuse and foam core wings.Air retracts and fiberglass cowl.WS is 9 feet.
The plane is in excellent condition, never crashed, but the canopy is cracked.
I am just in the process of rubbing it down for a fresh paint-job and a G62 for power.
If you are interested let me know and maybe we can come to an agreement on price for the airframe,
painted or as is.

Take Care

Mel

I found this post and wanted to respond even though it is a long time ago. I have an original SIGYAKPairplane. This airplane has been framed up and in my fathers storage attic for probably 40 years. I worked on it about 20 years and covered the fuselage and tail and that's where I stopped. I have pulled it out and am going to finish it and fly it in VRCS events. I have an alluminum cowl and fixed gear. I have a canopy but it has yellowed and been scratched. Looking for a new canopy. Any help.

Recently i got myself a beautiful Eurokit's Yak 18 Pm with both types of canopies. This is 9ft wingpan model which was built and flown but had never crashed, still in very good condition. I'm looking at different color schemes to do mine in as it's in olive drab green with yellow cowl, YUKH!!!....any ideas plus if anyone has clear canopy for it, that would be great as mine is yellowish from it's age. I'm thinking on powering it with Q52 converted to electronic ignition. What do you think about this motor for this plane. Wouldn't 9ft wing be 1/4 scale model of real bird...

I'm looking for clear canopy for Yak-18Pm variant and that turbine blade ring that goes in the intake lip of the cowl just behind the prop...

Turbine blade ring? Cooling louvres! They just rotate open and closed to maintain engine cooling.

Nice to see some new posts on this thread.

They are called "Radiator Shutters" in the Sig instruction book. You will probably have to scratch build them or possibly adapt them from a currently available kit of a different airplane.

The Sig version is simply made from sheet plastic and screwed to a plate behind the cowl.

If possible please post pictures of your project.

I still haven't finished the enlarged Yak 18P I started several years ago, but - I have completed the cowl air flow ring - inst. panel - and three piece canopy. I blew the Sig plans up by 20% to get about 85" wing. The ring is laser cut from 1/32" G10 Glass as is the inst. panel. The ring frame is laser cut from .008 G10 glass. The glass is far stiffer than the plastic and holds up well. Have a great day.

Can you take close up shots of the ring and post them here or send me high res at my email.

I like to make this ring for my model if it's all possible. I will post dia of the cowls intake here to see how much urs is smaller then mine would be.

Thanks
Sam

Looking great! You are building an impressive model. The radiator shutter made from glass sounds good and strong. I might have to make mine that way. Keep up the good work. I look forward to seeing more progress on your giant scale YAK 18.

I would send you a scan of the radiator shutter patterns from the Sig plan sheet but I can't find my plans at the moment. They are buried around here somewhere. You could enlarge those patterns to fit your cowl. I will look again tomorrow but don't get your hopes up. Maybe wjf2 has the patterns handy?

i recently purchased a yak 18pm (95" ws) and am in the process or getting it flight ready. have a 3w 75i gaser for power. for anyone interested i sent an email to eurokit in italy inquiring about the yak 18pm model that they produced a number of years ago. they got back to me and were kind enough to send me some information on the assembly of the kit including a couple of scale drawings. for anyone interested send me an email at [email protected] and i will be happy to pass on the information.
cheers

just to clarify the scale drawings are of the eurokit 95" ws model. someone unfortunatly thought they were scale drawings of the real aircraft.

is there anyone who has one or completed the eurokit model (95" ws) and if so could they contact me. i need some clarification on the wing. what i have is a three piece wing. the outer sections are joined to the center section with two plywood joiners (fore and aft) that supposedly are attached with screws thru the wing and into the joiners. this makes sense but the instructions i rec'd recently from eurokit stated that the joiners are to be epoxied into the sections making a rather large one piece wing. trying to find out if this required or if the can be used in the mechanically fastened config.
cheers

Jim,

If you want to glue ply wing joiners, then just glue then=m with epoxy on the center wing section. This wau outer wings will get plugged into center section n be locked in with set screw as per how it is.

You really don't need to glue outer wings to the center wing as that its not designed to be, having 3 pcs wing is for easy transportation n storage. I won't be to worried about it.
