I am looking for either plans on or molds to build a XP-67 moonbat built by McDonnell in the late forties. Does any one have any information on this.
All help would greatly be appreicated

There was a set of molds for a .90 powered XP-67 that were sold on e-bay about 2 years ago. The guy that bought them was planning on making a kit available. I'll see if I can find out who has the molds.

Jack bale in Ca. Hope to heart back soon on them. A gentleman by the name Bill Paker has a set of factory drawings that he is trying to blow up at this time.

Around two years ago I had gone out to ACMT models in Encinitas, Ca. near San Diego to make a deal on some molds they were interested in purchasing from me . There I saw the model and molds . A glass XP-67 being built.. The model was most impressive.

Last contact (aprox 1 yr ago) was via thier web site which had a few of thier molds up for sale. At this point, thier web site is down.

There is a mold out there somewhere for this model. I'm not sure if it ever took flight.

This looks like it would make a great project. I notice CenuryJet has some retracts:
ACMT XP-67 BAT Product #: 16781 for $600.
I guess with twin .90 engines this would be a pretty big model!

I saw a fiberglass prototype, probably the same one mentioned above, at a 1/8 Air Force fly in here in Phoenix a few years back. (or maybe it was a Masters event?) Anyway, the fiberglass work was very well done and the entire project looked most impressive. Molds certainly existed at one time, too bad it has not been made available. Well, all my info on who bought the XP-67 molds are in my old computer. If I can get another moniter to hook it up, I can retrive the info. on the guy that bought the molds. I remember that one model was built of the molds and it was fantastic.

I am still awaiting a reply from the Jack Bale on his plans for a 70 inch span. As soon as i can recieve a set of plans. i will start posting
pics of the build and any info that I find in reference to kits and or plugs used to build any of the planes.

The view on the screen is wretched, but when printed out in a image program (fit to 8.5 x 11) it is readable.
This plan looks like it is from "Scale Models by Wylam Book Three", so maybe not to exact scale, but gives an idea what one is in for on the blended fuse-wing.

p51f4f: I also sent for the Jack Bale plans for a possible future build. I sent a Email like he asked, and have not heard back.

No, it is not disinformation, I understand Jack passed away a couple of years ago. I did not find this out until after I started my search.
But I am still hoping to find a set of plans for the XP-67 Moonbat.

130" would be way cool, do you think twin turbo props would be awesome

That would certainly be serious power! And serious bucks!
The fuse is realy big in the center, so there's lots of room for all that kero feeding twins!
Maybe 2 gallons of fuel in custom fitted tanks.

I did a quick check on the nacell dia. at 132" span.
At 6" behind the prop backplate, it about 8" diameter. Does that sound about right for a turbo prop set-up?
