Default Citabria Pro by Balsa USA. -- your input needed.

Hello all, I have just about narrowed down my next project to the Citabria Pro by Balsa USA. I would appreciate any information you guys have to offer. Any of your pictures, "hits and misses" relating to the building, kit quality, etc. would be great. Thanks in advance.... lownslo

PS. If anyone has any links for reviews on this plane, that would be a real plus. I have sent a couple emails to Balsa USA and have received only minimal info.

Go to the Giant Scale forum and read the posts under the thread "No one seems to be buying big planes..." by raineman. There are some posts in there by someone with a Pro and he gives a link to a review on RCOnline. Lots of info! I'm also thinking about this plane for a future project.

Here's a picture of my Balsa USA Citabria Pro. I'ts powered with a O.S. 120. A bit underpowered but probobly pretty scale. A real nice flying bird.

Hey Redline........ very cool looking plane!! I received an email from someone and they said there was a lot of shaping and "real building" to finish this kit. They did say the wood was great....

Awesome airplane Redline - just realized "Citabria" spelled backwards is "airbatic"; learn somethin' new everyday.

glad you guys like the Citabria. I wish I could take the kudos for the building of it but I bought it as you see it. The only things I did to it was to redo the control linkages and to add an onboard glow system. My favorite aspect of this plane is how scale it lands. I put some time in a full scale Citabria and I can say that it mimicks it's big brother very nicely. And it's just a fun relaxing sunday flyer. Lownslow....I say go for it

Default Balsa USA Citabria

I built this one a few years ago. It has an OS-160 twin for power and an onboard starter. I had to put some weight in the tail to balance it. It has about 40 flights logged. I am thinking of selling it. I built special aluminum struts for it and reenforced the tabs on the center struts as there was at one time a problem of the tabs breaking. They may have corrected this problem by now.

I built one a few years ago it flies very well but there is some building and carving involved. I would replace the wing tip blocks with foam or at least something lighter than the 2x4s provided.
