You may have heard or read about the new super high power LED devices on the market (Lumileds Luxeon etc ) with 110 degrees angle of view and 20 odd lumens etc (and the size of a one cent piece in diameter (still have 'em?). Great these devices are too. BUT do not be seduced into parting with your money, as first, they do not operate for long on a battery pack and a resistor ,like the old Leds we all know. They draw 340 milliamps, they need a properly rated heatsink and they need a regulated current led driver! IF they are run on a battery (600 milliamps) they will gradually run it down ( hour or so plus a bit)and then they will more than likely self destruct. . expensive. Consult the electronic guru in your area or club and save yourselves some grief moneywise! Sorry about that![&o]

Thanks for the "heads up". I have a number of old RAM lighting schemes that I was thinking about upgrading with the high output leds. I will have to re-think, and research.
Of course high output usually means high input, so there is a balance somewhere.
