I have a birthday comming up and I'm thinking about my next project. I've been looking at the Sig Space Walker and am wanting some in put. This will be my first large scale project and am just wanting some advice on engine preferances. I think the Zenoah G-38 would be a good choice. I would love to put a Saito 300 twin but the cost is holding me back. What do you think?

I've seen them fly with both motors. You'd be happy with either, but the big Saito would sound better.
I think there's a Saito 300 for sale in the Market Place at around $450.

I'm building the Spacewalker II now. I have a small build thread going in the kit building forum right now also. The kit is pretty involved but the end result is beautiful. I've built 3 four stars, a Rascal and a few other smaller kits but this is by far the most involved one I have worked on. I am slower than most people and I have many hours over a 5 month period in mine. I'm almost done covering mine with more hours needed for painting and final touches. I have enjoyed the build quite a bit and the kit and the directions are both very good. I started with a partial kit so I can't comment on the wood quality but if its like the other Sig kits I've done then the wood quality is top rate as well. I am going with a ST 2300 nitro in my 1/4 scale so I can't comment on the larger 1/3 scale planes' engine requirements.

If you like to build, the older Sig designs are for you. I agree with gnirwin. They have good wood and explicit instructions. Compared to more modern designs, they are involved, but they pay you back with a beautiful model that flies well.

I built the big Spacewalker a dozen years ago. It was a lot of fun, if you like to build. Plan on at least 6 months of work. I used a G-38. I would use the Saito or the Pegasus today. It was a beautiful plane and a great flyer.

I've got one ready to be maidened right now...it has a quadra 52 in it with a smoke system....This will be overpowered but it never hurts to have a little up and go! it was a great kit to build, and it took me 2 years to do it! i spent a lot of time with adding a full cockpit and rib stitching though, well worth the extra time and effort in my opinion. I think you would love the kit, and it really shows the great quality of kits of older designs...
