I've been building Zs for quite a number of years. In 33% scale I prefer Don Neill's plans. He did the models for the movie "The Rocketeer." His plans are the closest to scale that I've seen. Lots of work to build but they're worth it. Even the gear operates like the real airplane. I have one framed up and parcially covered. The second is almost framed.
In 25% scale, I prefer the one by Henry Haffke. I started two but got sidetracked to build a true scale 1/5 Gee Bee Z from my own plans, using the Page model as a beginning.
The 1/5 Z has 95% scale outline. It is framed up and waiting covering. I will cover it with silk and dope and finish it off in automotive paints. Power is a OS 80 2S. I'm sure it will be a screamer!
I hope this photo of it shows up. I would like to share it with those interested in Gee Bees.

I have 2 Gee bees at this time and have designed my own 94 inch version, unfortunately the plans got lost in a hard drive crash. I have the Wendell Hotstetler plans, (94 inch) but would like to get a set of Don Neils plans. He does not have a website that I can find. How can I get a set of his plans?

Gee Bee John,
I've been looking for Don Neil's Z plans myself but have had no luck. I understand he passed away some time ago and there's no current distribution for his plans. I've heard he built the models for the Rocketer movie, which I saw on display at MGM in Florida in the early 90's. Magnificient work... I've wanted to build one ever since.
I just ordered plans for the Hostetler 29%, which Wendell says flew very well and handled well on the ground also. It's the one on his site, it looks flawless.
Good luck,
