I think you have an answer. You may use a wood prop.

Set your mixture with a tachometer instead of by ear. A lean mixture leads to backfires. Secure the prop correctly and re-check the prop nut regularly. Think safety.

I onece had a Wooden Prop and i put it on my Wooden Plane .. and it Just Wooden't go
