The only kit of the Wedell-Williams Gilmore Red Lion Racer that I am aware of is a 24" rubber scale kit from [link=http://www.dumasproducts.com/cgi-bin/dumas.storefront/4401e4960b180bd0271d40d409680639/Product/View/0402]Dumas[/link].
There are plans available as well, e.g., [link=http://www.aero-sports.com/whplans/gilmore.html]this plan[/link].

Edit: Added link to Dumas

Although not inexpensive, cowling and wheel pants are available from [link=http://www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com/cowlplan.htm#WENDELL%20HOSTETLER]Fibreglass Specialties[/link].
Perhaps other companies can supply these items as well. I don't know but maybe you can even find a kit cutter that would laser cut all the parts for you.

This is the same plane in the Miss Paterson scheme Byron made them and I don't know if Iron Bay has produced any kits or not. I did get an extra decal set from Iron Bay last year. The Byron/Iron Bay was based on the Hostetler design except that they made a fiberglass fuselage instead of built up balsa.

If you like that one, you might like the B2 Brown Racer :

Or, one of Jack DeVine's golden age racers:

Or, the Red Lion plans from Wendell Hostetler :
http://www.aero-sports.com/whplans/gilmore.html
Or, the previously mentioned Iron Bay offering :

Good luck

Wendell Hostetler has some plans for one in 84" span. Cowl and accessories are available after-market.

Wood kits of this plan should be available from some one on his list shown here;

The Byron kit is a great flyer and builds super fast. Iron Bay has the complete kit together now and is currently shipping them: http://www.ironbaymodelcompany.com/W...ell/Wedell.htm

thanks to all for helping
i was wondering if the real plane fuse is clad in alu or if it is fabric?
because the Byron kit has a fiber fuse and the Hosteler is wood structure, which one is more scale?
i believe the price would be close (the Hosteler combined with fiberglas specialities items)
also, does anyone know how this plane flies?

Iron Bay is producing the kit. It is very scale. Fiberglass fuse has all the scale lines. They also offer the mock dummy engine. Go to www.ironbaymodelcompany.com

I bought a Icon North West Kit of Wendel Williams .#44 ..Same plane as the Red Lion...I built it and had problems with alignment ..The Kit was Poorly Cut and when it was finished ..I had $700 in it .(Glass parts -Covering -Rework-ect) ..I could have bought a Byron ...Put a G62 in it and it flew fast or slow ..Handled nice ...If I had it to do over ..I would go with a Hostedtler Kit by Kit Cutters or Byron...(Iron Bay )...Rich Tampa
