Cub colour scheme
#1
I am building a GP .20 Cub. I'd like to do a military colour scheme, and I need some advice. I am looking for a colour scheme that was in use on full size Cubs.
The only "army green" Cubs I have seen are L-4 Grasshoppers. I don't want to make the extra windows, so all L-4s are out. Are there any green Cubs out there with the J-3 window configuration?
Did any Cubs come with a blue fuselage, yellow wings/stab/fin and red/white rudder (like PT-19s)?
Thanks!

It's true, some had regular windows and some were painted other colors. Check out these links...

The US Navy used the Cub as well, under the designation NE-1. Many of these retained the original window configuration. Here's an all yellow one:

This one is finished in a blue/gray color scheme and was attached an airship squadron on the west coast of the US:

There is an all silver RAF Cub here:

I don't think any of the L-4s were in the blue/yellow scheme you mention. Those colors were generally reserved for training aircraft.

Pete Bowers has a good book on CUBs, got mine through Great Planes(Tower Hobbies) they may still have them. About all you can think of what they did to CUBs!! $10.00 or $12.00 when I got mine. The all silver RAF ones were supposed to have one from each state. They called them Flit Fires. Have fun>>>>>>>>>big max 1935
