Peckergnatflyer,
I am not that knowledgeable on WWI stuff, but I like very much what I'm seeing here. Nice work there.
No, I do not particularly remember you. But I can only assume that I had something to do with motivating you to get these great shots
Some may not like my sometimes harsh method...but it obviously "worked" in this instance.
Again, good stuff and thanks for playin'.

My hughes h-4 hercules aka spruce goose. Happy landings. Jim
My hughes h-4 hercules aka spruce goose. Happy landings. Jim
But there is nothing about any of your photo of her that would lead me to believe it's not a model.
Forget about the fact that we all know that the Spruce Goose never flew (beyond just a few feet off of the surface in Long Beach).
This thread is about Photos of models that have us scratching our heads as to whether it's a model or the real thing.
Not feelin' it here. And am wondering why this thread is so difficult for people to understand. Do you actually think your model looks like it's possibly a full-scale aircraft in your photos?
The only thing I can come up with is that people see the thread title and think "man, I spent time trying to make my model as scale as I could. so this is where I should post these so so pics of her".
WRONG! This isn't that thread.
There is another thread just recently started that would be perfect for your photos. They would be appreciated far more on that thread.
Now many are going to say "man, don't be so uptight about it. They're just models and it's a hobby for cryin' out loud"
I would respond with "it's too late to turn back now"
There should be a rule that you have to display an "understanding" of this thread before you're allowed to post images.

I think that "Gastapo" would be a better term. And no, I am not a moderator. Any one can comment on what they like, or dislike about photo submissions here.
I generally reserve my comments as to a particular photos "appropriateness" or adherence to the thread's guidelines.
This thread has been around long enough for everyone to know what this thread is about, and what type of images are expected here.
But I must say that the "premise" of this thread has been very tough for many to grasp...but I feel that it is mainly because of a lack of effort.
I would love to, someday, see nothing but great images that match the intent of this thread. With no more "what the heck are you thinking" posts by me or anyone else.
And nothing but kudos in response to nearly every photo submission. Think that can happen? Probably not :-(
In the meantime, I will continue to attempt to push it in that direction.

RE: Best scale photo!
SDC, I completely agree with your vision of this thread, and am not easily offended by harsh critiques. I "get" this thread and appreciate it's intent. I'm wondering though, if it should be moved from the "R/C Scale" threads to the "Photography" threads? Would it be more easily understood by Photographers with an interest in Scale, than by Scale Modelers with an interest in Photography? Just my thoughts.

RE: Best scale photo!
IMO, If this thread were moved to a seldom visited area of RCU, it would die...and it wouldn't be a slow death.
It would become a "whatever happen to that great thread?" thing.
Again, MHO
Would hate to see that happen. This thread is nearing 4K posts...there are very few threads that can boast those kinds of numbers.
My hope is that it is because of the eyecandy and not because of the controversy and turmoil...which seems to be the magic ingredient in most successful programming these days.
All the "reality" shows that enjoy success have this ingredient. The long-running "American Chopper" would've died long ago were it not for the feuding between the Teutul's. "American Idol" has Simon.
The list goes on and on.
Is this thread's popularity due to this "car-accident" curiosity? My hope is that it's because of the images, and the fun in producing images that display a resolve in meeting the challenges that this thread requests.
Geez...this sounds more like a blog than a post

Fair enough. It's your opinion, and I admire you for it. I don't necessarily agree, but I'm not bothered by it enough not to contribute and/or comment when I can, and hopefully I'll be able to contribute more to the spirit of this thread. (Although my language may sound stern, I hope this isn't read in the wrong way. I sincerely respect you and this threads intended meaning )

Yo Paul
I agree with you the requirements for this thread were established by the thread originator ,so why deviate from those,if Not post on a thread where the requirements are NOT needed. Anyway this is from a guy who ONLY takes photographs in the bright blue skies . Putting this thread on track again I think these heavy iron aircraft do
Semper Fi
Joe
BTW the images of the A10 has the canopy blown off

RE: Best scale photo!
Mr crashmaster Iposted the pics in fact due to modelers who have seen the pics in person commenting that it looks real in the photos, Hadhowards h-4 had a real flightwould have been nice butit did not and thats just the way it is.I do not care what you think anyway its just a post with pics for fun.On the other handI think its you who did not understand the intent of the thread asI noticed you bashing other people for various reasons and tracking back your last 25posts on this thread not a 1 of them included a photo of a plane scale or not. The thread was to post scale looking photos. my h-4 hercules was scale enough to finish first place two weeks ago in scale civilian at the ama convention in ontario ca. so if you dont like the pics fine by me.

RE: Best scale photo!
I commented about liking your model. I said nothing negative about your model.
I could care less about "the real one didn't fly, so pics of your model flying aren't correct" thing, and that had no bearing on my judgement.
I only had negative comments about the photos of the model. They are nice photos, but they don't cause me to stop and figure out if it full-scale or a model.
Congrats on your win at the AMA convention. It was well deserved. But, saying that I do not understand the intent of this thread is just ludicrous, and your post would have had much more merit had you not said that.
Again, great model, and an award winner at that. But your photos are nothing more than snapshots of a rfine model. That isn't the intent of this particular thread, and you should not be protesting that. You should, however, post them in the "Favourite Scale Models In Flight" thread. It will fit perfectly there.
Uncle Joe, awesome pics of the heavies...as we have come to expect. Is that Buck's Phantom...real nice. And Smokin' Joes' YA Twin Hornet looks fantastic on that photo pass.
You know that the comments about your boring azure blue AZ skies are made out of jealousy right?
Hope to see you soon!

( uncljoe ), hi, nice photos. I hope you don't mind me playing with them a bit. I couldn't resist...
The first image is your original untouched. The second is my version of a wartime "grab-shot". Possibly by a wingman. The third one.......just for fun. Kinda makes me think of "Dr. Strange Love". Hey, what do you expect at three in the morning.
Ken.

Hey Joe,
Once again I couldn't resist. Joe keeps posting great photos of great models and I'm bored.I'm getting a lot of practice with photo-shop.
Thanks Joe.
ok, the smoke is a little heavy so I tunned the engine. Think take-off, full fuel and afterburner, 1961

Joe I'm just a night owl, always have been. I wasn't sure if the MIG-21 smokes that much cause I've never seen one fly in person. The MIG-15 at Chino doesn't smoke at all.
Anyway, I had to start somewhere and if it's too much, no problem. I'ts fairly easy to redo...NOTHING smokes like a Phantom
Ken.
