RE: Spitfire prop
Merlin, Evan, I think there is some confusion here lol. Merlin is referring to a post several pages (bluenoser post) back and I think you are referring to the post on this page of Spit AE-S. Two different planes so you both are correct! Hows that for international relations LOL.

RE: Spitfire prop
Yeah Bob, I think I just figured that out too. The spitfire I was referring to was on post no. 731 which is indeed a MkXIV with the griffon engine. Merlin 65 is correct in that the prop on the spitfire on page 15 of this forum, shown by Bluenoser is indeed reversed for that airplane. Awesome picture though.

First, it's not a Lanier...it's a Great Planes Lancair (Lance Air).
The prop is a Master Airscrew and is a flying prop, not simply for static display. It has been sanded and balanced, white primer overall, lightly sand with 800, mask for stripes, gray primer overall, very lightly sand, light clearcoat, apply decals, clearcoat, then sand with 1000/1200 to obtain a satin finish.
This has been done because...as many of you already know..."if it ain't scale...it's crrrrap!"
Now, if someone can tell me where to obtain the very sharp and "pointy" 3-blade chrome spinner...I'd be forever indebted to ya!

RE: Lancair prop
Tony, Sorry to hear about the loss of your good friend.
Iflynething, thanks for the compliments.
Rchyflyer, thanks for the TruTurn custom tip...I may look into that. The decals are Hartzell propellor logos (see attached) created in Adobe illustrator (AI) and Inkjet output to white decal paper. Krylon Crystal Clear is sprayed in a few light coats to basically waterproof the ink for the waterslide process. Clearcoat (fuelproof...I use PPG 2-part) is then required over the whole shootin' match. All the sponsor logos, door handle areas, etc. were done this way, except they were output to clear decal sheets instead of white. The other things like "New Spirit", Lancair 300 logos and "N" numbers are all sign shop cut vinyl from supplied AI files.
Thanks,
Paul

RE: Spitfire prop
Bob,Evan,
Glad you straightened that out. I was beginning to doubt myself for a moment there. There is a picture of the real FU-P from an almost identical viewpoint at http://www.kiwiaircraftimages.com/im...a/M91SPIT3.JPG
The model is truly remarkable.

Merlin, Glad your not loosing it there mate lol! Hey.. any one down there have pictures of the Spity at the Tempora Museum? Its the spit with the Shark mouth.. Its a MK VIII I believe..I sure would love to have a decent set of pictures of that plane. I think a BT Spit done up in the scheme would be super!! Thanks for the spit link.. awsome looking plane!! RE: Spitfire prop
Funny you should ask Bob. I have some stunning photo's of this aircraft which was, coincidently the subject of Brian Taylor's original prototype MK VIII. Will zip and send to you via pvte message. The Temora museum will allow visitors to take as many close up shots as you like and is about a half day drive from me.

Hopefully will appear here, if not more PC lessons required!!
Cheers, Ian.

Here's another, this time my Mustang. It's from the Modeltech ARTC modified for more accuracy to include scale retracts and doors, powered by a Laser 120.
Now I know how to do this upload lark, you lot are gonna get inundated whether you like it or not!!, cheers, Ian.
