I need some assistance. Anyone out there who has a picture(s) of an AC-130U tail? I need a good shot of the tail extension aft of the elevator control surfaces.

I have googled, yahoo'ed, MSN'd just about every Spectre gunship website, but there are no good pictures anywhere. There are plenty of "H" model pictures out there, but the "U" version seemed to be hiding.

The attached picture shows the area I am referring to. I'm basically stuck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also tried Google for "AC-130u 3-view". Also didn't find much, but I did find

AC-130U Spooky US Air Force special forces aerial gunship based on the MC-130H, equipped with a new 25-mm Gatling gun and upgraded electronics; 13 built

Maybe the fact that it was based on the MC-130H will be a help.

Thats not much help. I'm looking for the overall shape and the sensors mounted to it. I am replicated all these small items.

For this project, I'm trying to do it from the real aircraft, not a plastic model. I thought about getting a model until I read some reviews. I dont know much about the AC-130U. Some of the model reviews describe "H" and "U" model parts in the AC-130U kit. After reading this, I want pictures of an actual "U" model.

BTW, your second link displyed a search box, but wouldnt show any results.

I came across this picture. It shows a portion of the tail section, in additon to a sensor pod on the aft fuselge.

I need a better tail photo, showing the size, shape, and sensors.

Does anyone now what model this is, H or U?

Thanks Bedford, this was the site that held the elusive tail picture(s) of the AC-130U.

That site has alot of great pictures. I'll definately be back there in the future.

Not sure how familiar you are with C-130's But the U Model is an H model C130 Coverted to a Gunship. You can tell by looking at the tail section you refer to. On the older E models that section of the plane sticks out much farther. Alos the U model has an APU on the left side as can be seen by the small bulge on the left had side of the plan just forward of the left Main landing gear. Very cool project though you got anymore pics? I am C130 Jet engine mechanic in the Air Force and I have a bit of soft spot for the "4 fan flying trash can."

WOW!! That is going to be an amazing aircraft. I am headed over to the other thread to check in on it as I would love to see the final product
