Hi,
Does anyone know what's going on with the Robart retracts for the Ziroli Staggerwing?
The best info I've found is Robart has only made 3 sets since Nick released the plans several years ago!
I called Ziroli and they've had them on backorder for the last 4 months. I then called Robart and they said it's special order only and would be at least 4 months.
I'm going to the WRAM show and thought I'd pick up a kit, but it seems Robart has no real interest in producing the gear so there's no point in buying a $550 kit.
Too bad as I was bugging Nick for years to finish his model and get the plans finished so I could build one of my favorite planes.
Maybe I'm missing something here, anyone have any inside info or we're just out of luck regarding the gear.
BRG,
Jon

Jon,
I would bet that Robart is busy making retracts for the Staggerwing ARF and don't want to change tooling for the Ziroli. Check and see if the retracts are available for the ARF.

Robart's Staggerwing retracts were offered in the same way their Wildcat system was :
Over priced and THEY DON'T WORK AS ADVERTISED.
The word went out on them and the building fraternity quickly responded but altering any thoughts
of constructing a project requiring this gear.
It's probable that Robart won't produce either of them in any quantity...and certainly not until the appropriate
re-engineering is performed.
