Default hyperion undercarriage problems

hi, i have 9 new hyperion planes that i put together over the winter and i'm having problems with the undercarriage ripping off. this happened today for the 3rd time maidening one of these planes and i'd like to know what mods people have done to stop this from happening.

i've maidened 5 so far, the .10 katana and helios were ok, the .10 su31 and edge, the screws holding the aluminium gear (i put longer ones in) ripped out and today i maidened the 1.2m su31, which on a perfect landing (on grass) the mounting plate and gear ripped straight off.

for the .10 sized edge, extra and su31, i'm thinking of using 3 or 4mm nylon bolts with some thick double sided tape between the mount and gear. i haven't looked at the mounting plates yet to see if they need re-enforcing inside.

the 1.2m su31 is a real problem. due to the design of the plane, it's difficult to make a new mount. i'm not sure what i'm gonna do about that, so if anyone has done this repair i'd be very interested to hear how you did it.

i also have the 1.2m edge, not flown yeat and the 1.2m cap which isn't built. i'm pretty worried my $500 investment in these planes is in jepody, which is a shame as the su31 is a very nice flier

Default RE: hyperion undercarriage problems

That is allways a problem with the small wheels on grass. Especially if the grass is a little high, it creates too much drag on the wheels. try larger wheels or a paved runway......
