Default Spitfire - 1/6

I have recently returned to this great sport of R/C scale after a few years away. I have built many scale models over the years, mostly in 1/6 scale. I have built the Pica Spitfire kit years ago as well as the FW-10-D9. I really enjoyed flying the Royal FW-190 for a few years. I am currently looking for a set of plans (or kit) of a Spitfire in this scale. This time I would prefer this new model to be as close to scale as possible, I'm not really looking for a "sport" scale model. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mick Reeves in the UK is about your best best (maybe your only bet) for a 1/6 scale Spitfire kit that is accurate. Mick's airplane is a Mk.IX and you can get it either entirely built up or with a glass fuse if I'm not mistaken.

kestrel,
Bob Holman plans offers the Brian Taylor Spitfire VIII & IX in an 83' span version. He also has laser cut parts available. Good guy to deal with.

Brian Taylor does NOT supply parts for his planes any more.
That means the canopy, cowl etc. So if you want to build one of his kits you will have to make these things yourself.

I was able to obtain a set of Brian Taylor plans and canopy for this plane, not thru Brian, but a 3rd party. Anyway, I think that is a great start!!

Hey, If you are ever around Kalamazoo/Portage MI. Let me know, I have a pica 1/6 spit that is half built I would love to get rid of. The fuse is built but really not a good job. The rest of the kit is unbuilt. You could scratch a new fuse. If you stop by and pick it up it is yours for $50.

Update on Brian Taylor parts. It appears that Traplett publications is/has obtained the rights to BT plans and accessories. This is good news as it seems as though things well be back in supply.
