Has anyone wedged a .91 into a Sig Citabria?
Hi, I hope to build the Sig Citabria and was wondering about using a .91 4-stroke, Ive looked at similar sized Super Decathlons (64"W.S) that takes up to a .90 4-stroke. When I bought the kit I had every intention of using a .72 4-stroke, should i go even bigger?
Im kinda partial to the Citabria, it was the first plane I ever flew in.
Wingspan 69 in 1753 mm
Wing Area 740 in² 48 dm²
Weight 7 lb 3175 g
Wing Loading 21.8 oz/ft² 6652 g/m²
Length 47 in 1194 mm
Radio Required 4-Channel
Recommended
Engines .35 - .50 in³ (5.7 - 8.2 cm³)
2-Stroke
.45 - .61 in³ (7.4 - 10 cm³)
4-Stroke

Well, just because you can, doesn't mean you should! The Citabria will fly very well with a 4 stroke in the 50-60 range. What about scaling up the plans to accomodate the .91 engine and doing a scratch build?

I have a Sig Citabria modeled after a friends real plane, and I don't know why you'd put a 91 in it. I fly mine with an OS FS-52 and it's all the power you need. The Citabria is more capable aerbatically than a full wing Cub, but this isn't a plane you're gonna need lots of power in. Keep it light and a FS-52, mas FS-70 is all you need!
