Hi guys
i'm totally new on this forum,
and are seeking some help for a new project.
i've been flying for 1 year now, after having a break of 10 years.
i'm flying a Graupner T-400 with a futaba radio control, with an OS 46 engine on.
i'm considdering a avro vulcan as my first building project.
has anybody in here ever made an attempt succesfully or not, to build one of these?
can you give me any hints, tips, tricks or something like this?</p>

Welcome back Kdrup,
You really want to get your hands full!
Im asuming you are refering to a glow powered vulcan. The CAP (complete-a-pack) Vulcan has been around for years and has a good reputation. The kit is still available through East Anglia Model shop (<font color="#008000">www.angliamodelcentre.com)

HI Loukos
thanks a bunch for the link, that is exactly what i'm looking for.
now when we are at it, what would be your choice of engine?
an electric fan, a ducted fan, a rear mounted propeller engine or what?
i'm am really interested in the turbine solution, but i'm not made of money,
so i guess the choice of engine would have to be the ducted fan, with a methanol engine?
what ideas do you guys have?</p>

Kdurup,
I built the CAP Vulcan about 15 years ago and powered it with a Thunder Tiger .61 running as a pusher. The plans are setup for this configuration. I added retracts to mine. I managed to get it in a spinspin recovery with a delta wing model doesn't happen.

do you have any pictures and detailed descriptions from the build?
And maybe even more important, is it something you can recomend for a "rookie"?

Kdurup,
Way back then, before digital cameras and the internet, I did not photograph my builds. I might be able to find a 35mm photo of the model buried in a cabinet somewhere. I do not recall that there were any building instructions; just the plans. I bought the kit at a swap meet, so I may not have gotten everything. I had to make some guesses on how to build the wing, and may have been wrong. The fuselage requires strip planking, lots of compound curves. I enjoy it, but most guys don't. My model had some throttle-pitch-roll coupling that made it a challenge to fly. I remember one day at the field when three of us, all chemical engineers, were trying to decide what to change to try to fix it. Lots of club members got laughs over that. As I recall I lost the model because of a drastic pitch up when I moved the throttle from low to high after some slow flight and it stalled and spun.

Kdurup,
As <font size="2" color="#00265e">R8893</font> mentioned, you can only build this kit as a pusher. With such a plane keep it simple. There are a couple of turbine models, one flew in Top Gun 2009 and there is one flying in the UK. These are a lot bigger, built by professional modellers and all scratchbuilt.
The CAP model has a very simple straight forward construction if you have built a few kits.

hmm,
scratch build is probertly to big of a mouthfull for me at this stage.
i haven't build any scratch models yet, only ARF models.
but can you guys then suggest somewhere to purchase the model?
do you fx have any stores to recommend?

Kdrup,
If you like the CAP one you can order it from the website im sure they will post to Denmark.
BTW i was in the classifieds section of the BMFA site, there is a built vulcan ready to fly from this kit, its a bit expensive and i would imagine it would cost quite a bit if it could be posted, however check it out.
