RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
Hi Guys,
What a great start to the thread - some seriously good lookin' models that have been well & truly captured by the camera. I think my favourite at the moment is the sun setting on the Ohio Dawn Patrol - superb picture. Keep up the good work[8D]
TTFN,
Neil

Here are a couple I took at the 2009 Rhinebeck Jamboree. There are a lot of incredible photos over at the MHRCS website too.

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
Thanks. I only have a few in-flight photos that came out decent from that event. I have a lot on-the ground shots and close-ups.
Here are a couple more of my assorted models.

EXCELLENT... Love it... full support from me.
Having said that, can we please limit the photos to those posted by yourself Neil?
You seem to have the Holy Trinity: The Skill. The Equipment. And access to: The Models
Everything else is kinda, plane in comparison.
Wicked stuff.

I think if Neil had wanted to post his gallery he would have just sent a link so everyone could enjoy them. He started the thread and asked to see other people's efforts at capturing the essence of scale flight, which does take the right equipment, great skill and the right subjects, none of which I have unfortunately. I also can't view Neil's photos (they are all little red "X"s in a box) because of the filter software at work so I don't know how far off my photos are, but I have a sense.
Keep sending the top level ones and explain how you do it!

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
Thanks to all for the kind remarks on the Dawn Patrol photos - I've managed to snag a few photos I've really liked, but they're many times not quite "Best Scale Photo" quality, due to some glaring model component (like the lack of a pilot, one of my pet peeves!!), but still a good photo.
Here are a few more, from the Greater Cincinnati Radio Control Club's Wings of War Fly-In last fall. A bunch of spirited flying gave me a great opportunity to capture the action:
Best regards,

Great action shots and what wonderful aircraft. I love the bomb drop photo...apparently the pilot and gunner ducked down to avoid enemy ground fire!

Neil... You take some really, really, really nice pics. Going a little off on tangent for a second... What lens are you using to take those pics? And what settings to you typically use (aperture, shutter, ISO)? Thanks.

Oops! Sorry about that! I couldn't quite make out the rear gunner and the engine pod blocks the front cockpits. My appologies to the Royal Airforce.

RE: Favourite Scale Models in Flight
The answer to post 43:
the aileron had come off the hinges making bank control iffy. it touched down he did not let off the E and it lifted off. then differential deceleration.
My opinion on the other thread is I biuld flying models because that is what i like. the other thread is what i did with plastic models before i saw the light!
how about more pic's these came from our fall color warbird ralley.
