Hey Group,
For fun thought I would start a thread showing my Royal Beechcraft Rebuild project.
I build one of these when I was 25 years old.. I am now 51. I never flew my last one, was afraid to and new to RC at that time but I was a good builder.
I have a kit that is untouched but am rebuilding someone elses crashed Baron.
It was a mess and the build quality ok but not the best.. Royal kits take skill and patience.
I also thought this would help younger builders thinking of doing some bulding instead of just flying ARF planes which are awesome.
I will post each step along the way along with scan pic of my old plane built back in the 80's. I am going to duplicate that build. I will be using Dope and silk to cover and will be using electric instead of glow. It will have retract gear.
Just a note, I am also recieving a RC Aerodyne Beechcraft Baron which I am excited to see next week. I am also going to be flying a Cessna 310 Top Flite plane. Not sure which will be in the air first.
I had a hip replaced in January and knee is being done in April so there will be a time where I will be down for the count.. Long story but I am an ex athlete that did damage to my body.
These pics are of the plane stripped and ready for repair. Note the windows were done incorrectly .. not sure what the builder was doing but the plastic glass was supposed to be installed on inside of fuselage. The builder put them on outside then put plywood around them. I have removed and will start over with that.
Thanks for looking. Should be fun and easy.
Doug

Looking forward to this building tread. I bought the plans for the Royal Beechcraft Baron a year ago, want to start soon. Good luck!

FreekT,
With the plans you can build but you will need a few items to be clarified.
Contact me when you start and will send you addl info no charge..
I have a complete untouched kit and if a part needs traced out or clarified would be happy to help.

Hi Doug,
Thx! Indeed there are some parts missing on the plans. There is a part list included but this is not accurate. The part list offers me a complete overview of the needed parts, so that is OK. I have to derive the size of some of the parts form the plans, and some I have to guess.
I'll let you know when I start, meantime I follow your progress
Regards,
Freek

FreekT,
Small world..
You just bought my royal baron kit..
I shipped to you overseas..
Hope you get it in a few days..
I have not been building.. I am having a knee replacement surgery next monday so will be out of it.
I bought another kit, a 114" ziroli D-18 kit I may start on next.. I put the baron aside for now.

Did you ever start building the Baron.. I am now looking to replace the kit.. I am recovered from the surgeries and wish I had not sold it.
Anyway, if you decide not to build let me know I would buy it back.. if started hope you are making good progress.
