Double checked my diagonal wingtip to rudder post measurements. Got the wing drilled and the wing bolts installed.
Gotta suck it up to get around these wings inside the shop... Oh my!

RE: TA 152H Meister Scale Project Grun 4
Really starting to wonder how this thing is going to fly? When I just look at it... My gut says... "This thing is gonna fly great!"
The FW190-D9 is a stretched out version of the FW190A. This TA-152 version is a stretched out FW190-D9 that was designed for high altitude performance. I'm now actually thinking this thing might even fly better.
I know for a fact that the old Dave Platt designed / Pica FW190-D9 flew like a pattern plane.
The IMAC Aerobatic guys are stretching out their extra's now. Maybe there is something to this.
Then again... It might fly like a U2 or a ASW-17

Pandi... I'm going to remove the DA-85 from Rita and start thinking about how I'm going to hang it on the TA. I'd like to get the engine in, spinner cut, and the cowl mounted before the finishing stages.

DD,
Greetings from kabul....looks like she is coming along really nice. Trying to make it back by Christmas....and stop by your shop. The Ace of Irons Pilot is being painted by my brother....again better than any in the mags I have seen recently. I will post some pics on that progress as I get them. Other than that...keeping my head down and avoiding get hit with IDF out here near the PAK border.

More Progress...
In finishing mode now. Lot's of dust.
1. Inlayed 1/8" plywood for wing bolts.
2. Rounded up material for the leading edges and got them installed and rough sanded.
3. Cut new wing tip blocks using plans, installed and rough sanded.
4. Started leading edge to fuselage joint.
The Leading Edge to Fuselage joint area was a big mystery to me. I just started added big chunks of balsa wood and lot of sanding to arrive at the shape. This is one of those unknown areas where you just "do your best, and Bondo the rest".
Lots more sanding to do. Dust is everywhere.

Don
I've been in Afghanistan and GTMO the last 10 months. Will be back home in March. Plan is to attempt to have this ready by the scale fly in but a lot of that is if we can ring her out and get paint on her by then. Burley has a full plate so I am in a line for his skills.

Was having trouble visualizing what the finished joint will look like. In a nut shell... Just sand until you think your done. Change your worn out sandpaper... Then sand some more. LOL!
I think I'm seeing it now. (red lines)
Thanks Tumbleweed!!

Hi David, been watching your build, all I can say is AWSOME! Loved your 109 build, and can't wait to see how this one turns out.

just caught with you guy's......great build.....just putting the Andersen's 1/5 scale version together....i like the idea of a 2 part wing rather than the 3 part that the plan suggests.....
hope you are well Todd!......long time no hear mate
all the best and keep it rolling in

Made it out to see the TA152 an spend some time at the field. This thing is a beast. Pictures really dont do it justice for the wingpan size. We were able to get the wing on and put her on her feet for the first time. Impressive girl. Nice work DD.

Got everything broke down and started prepping parts to start glassing. I guess the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.

Outstanding! I'm really enjoying watching this build. Learning lots.

Good ol Burleyman gave me some really good advice. Break everything down into small parts and sub-assemblies. Concentrate on getting each of them done individually or in pairs. Trying to fill every dent and ding in every part before progressing can be so frustrating and seemingly never ending.
Right now... My goal is to prep and glass a couple of parts by the end of every day. In the morning I clean up the glassed parts with a fine sanding pad and repeat the whole process.
