I like it, and have already copied the pictures for my future reference.

A question, that comes to my mind: Is the seat back really that low? I would have expected something tall enough to support more of the pilots back.

I like the idea of the balsa loom. Here's the seat I "made" for my Snipe but cutting up a small basket from the $1 (100 yen) store. With the pilot in place it isn't visible anyway.

ThanksLes,

yes,......the seat back is really so low, this is the seat of a French Demoiselle from 1909.

But don't worry, in the pioneer days there was many different seat models.

Usually, the materials were combined, .....there was versions with rattan / plywood as well as rattan / steel pipe.

The heights and widths were also different, even the German Fokker seats were in mixed construction.
I have built any full size seats for our ww1 machine, I could send you something by mail if you're interested.

greetings Gabriel

Thanks, Gabriel.

I once built/assembled a Hasegawa museum quality plastic DR-1, and didn't remember that seat being so short. I think I would have noticed.

Les, think of the seat in the demoiselle as being something like a tractor seat. ;)

The SSW D-III has a low seat but the cockpit pad provides additional back support.

"Les, think of the seat in the demoiselle as being something like a tractor seat."

And, in those days, it probably could have been:-))))))))))))

My seat for my 1/4 Camel. Not really difficult to make.
